Great Gorge Golf Club - Lake/Quarry Course

About
Great Gorge Golf Club is situated on 500 acres of naturally preserved land, nestled in the Vernon Valley between the Wawayanda and Pochuck Mountain Peaks. Designed by George Fazio in 1970 on behalf of Hugh Hefner for his Great Gorge Playboy Club, the course boasts 3 championship nines: Rail, Lake and Quarry. With four tee box options, the course is manageable for newer golfers yet challenging for lower handicap players, making Great Gorge an ideal venue for all golfers.

Fun course good challenge can’t wait to play again
Seen better days.
I've played this coarse several times over the years, but its current condition is mediocre at best. The cart paths are in horrible shape as it was a roller coaster ride throughout. The carts themselves are really old and dated. The rough was uneven and slightly overgrown which made finding balls a challenge all day. Being within a crumbling and deteriorated abandoned hotel complex make's the visual unappealing. For a $60 round in a pinch, I'd begrudgingly consider it one more time but for $97 I won't return.
Although there are marks of aeration, it was good compared to the price I bought at Golf Now.
great day of golf
we have played here before and always enjoy the course
we play from the white tees and find the course challenging, but fair
course is in excellent condition
Will Play Again
Good Course & Friendly Staff. Hope To See Better Cart Path Next Time🌹
Golf Play
Like the electric golf carts. No ball washers, club cleaners, and no ability to bring a personal ball and club cleaner on course. Need more porta-johns per course, water coolers would be appreciated as there were no service carts for drinks, food, etc. Range Marshalls would be greatly appreciated. Finally, members need to be educated on USGA rules of golf, as well as, a course in manners.
First timer
Great course. Very playable for average golfers. Great conditions with tough greens.
Best Conditions i have seen in a while!
Coarse was in great shape , staff friendly and very accommodating, pro shop is stocked and grill was up and running . And even a bonus. Outdoor grill for fast turn, staff actually used all 3 9’s to alleviate traffic . Definitely will return
Great course with 27 holes!
Great Gorge is a great golf course located in Sussex County , NJ. I never get tired of playing here, nice layout with 3 different 9 ‘s. The scenery is beautiful, course conditions are always great, with challenging greens! The staff is always very friendly and accommodating, Wish I lived closer, but will always continue to play here for obvious reasons!
Disorganized shambles
I had a 230 tee time. At 315 I grew tired of waiting for a cart and left. The issues were caused earlier in the day because of slow play. It wasn’t handled, and by the time I was due to tee off, I was hearing rounds were taking 5+ hours. Once the round started. The starters I was dealing with were very nice, apologetic, and professional. But there gooses was cooked earlier. It was bitterly disappointing.
Oh, and we all know the demographic of the slow players. Go ahead, cancel me.
Yet I’m sure you all agree.
