Mountain Creek Resort

About Mountain Creek Resort
Mountain Creek Resort is a four-season destination in Vernon, N.J., just an hour outside of New York City. It features a waterpark; the 27-hole Great Gorge course, which was purchased in 2018; the Treescape Aerial Adventure Park, home to zip-lining, climbing obstacles and rope walks; and a Bike Park of 52 trails that is loaded with jumps and 1,000 feet of vertical drop. The course was part of the old Playboy Club in the 1970s and 1980s, attracting famous names such as Dean Martin and Bob Hope for a game. It’s a beautiful property with wonderful mountain views and elevation changes. Guests can stay in the Appalachian hotel or enjoy more space and privacy in a one- to three-bedroom townhome rental at Black Creek Sanctuary. Both accommodations offer outdoor pool and hot tub facilities.Facts

Solid Course
The course offered great variation in difficulty and hole layout. Played Quarry and Lake. The condition of the course was solid. The two major issues being the tee boxes, were so uneven and the sand traps were more like rock traps. Dangerous to play out of.
Good greens
Played this golf course last week, excellent layout very good greens overall conditioning very good. everything else about it is very old, carts are old,
The cart paths are original and the driving range is an afterthought. kind of an eerie feeling when you drive in you see the decaying original Hotel.
In the end here you always want to play good greens and this place delivers so expect very little other than an old layout with good greens.
Bring your own game make sure you have a foursome because I had two players with me who should not have been on that course and made the experience awful
Simple and peace of mind
Played several times and always in above average conditions and awesome pace and great price regardless of time of week
Not worth the money
If you charge more than $100 for a round, and your bunkers are a gravel pit, you get 1 star.
Hidden Gem
Great course, not for beginner golfers. Greens are fast but can be faster if they wanted. With this heat they have to be careful not to burn them out. Danny and staff couldn’t be more accommodating everytime I show up!
Awesome Golf
Great Gorge is such a beautiful place to play golf. The people that work there are always so helpful and friendly .
Good
Course in good condition overall..
Pros: greens in very good condition,
Cons: parking lot and cart paths still in bad conditions. Bunkers are hard and full of stones.
Fairways still have issues especially Lake #5,6, Quarry #7,8, Rail #9, etc
Beautiful but tough course
Great course with length. Extremely difficult to high handicap golfers but beautiful nonetheless.
Three unique 9 hole layouts, love the lake course
The golf course has three unique nine-hole layouts: quarry ,lake, and rail. Last time I played quarry and rail, this time I played quarry and lake. The quarry course is very cool it has some very unique style holes that you won't find anywhere. Playing through openings in rock formations, playing around a farm silo. etc. I really enjoyed the lake course I'm so glad I was able to play it this time. It was a beautiful layout in between water on some of the holes. It was the flattest of the three courses but still challenging because of the dog legs and the water. I would say of the three the lake is the most enjoyable to play.
Save your money and play elsewhere
Not a bad course but not with the money they charge. Prices up there at Crystal Springs are getting out of control... Great Gorge not with $100 to play a round ($65-$75 would be fair), Wild Turkey is a nice course but not worth the $140 they charge ($80 - $100 would be fair) and Ballyowen at $240 is INSANE
Course asphalt paths in poor condition
Beautiful course. Great greens. Previous rainy days required path only for carts. Terrible paths in need of extensive repair. On any other day you can drive on the fairways.
