Monday Morning at Etowah
Three of us traveled from Simpsonville SC about 1:30 minute ride. The weather was perfect. The staff was friendly and accommodating. Etowah has 3 none hole courses ( West, South and North) We played the West course first, it was in good condition. The greens were in very good shape and the course layout was good. We stopped at the turn and got some quick serve sandwiches. The cheeseburger was great and the price was fair. The second 9 was on the North course. It looks as if they have stopped maintaining this 9. Traps were played as ground under repair. Fairways were mowed, but not in good shape and greens looked like they needed water. The layout of the North course was excellent. I believe they South Course greens were being punched. Not sure why the Pro Shop did not alert us to course conditions of the North Course prior to playing. None the less we had fun.
Really nice course
Enjoyed playing here again. Nice course in good shape and a great staff.
Great time
The course is very nice and the staff is excellent. A course ranger checked with us twice to make sure we were happy with the pace of play, which we were. We went into Zeke’s restaurant and bar after and had a great meal. Very good experience!
Fun round, good value & pace for a weekend
First time playing here. Looking for local course with improved conditions vs. others in the area and was not disappointed. Friendly, helpful staff. Matched up with enjoyable playing partners, the course was generally better than most, e.g. fairways nice, greens nice, tees a little hard but nice. A few bunkers in rough or unplayable state would be the only shortcoming. Pace of play was fine even on a weekend. I'll certainly return.
Etowah Golf Club is a lovely mountain course
We really enjoyed our visit to Etowah Golf Club this week. It was a first time for us and we will likely play it again while we are in town. The fairways and greens were in good shape and there were some challenging holes on the course. Would recommend it for an older mountain course.
Rowan golf
The bunkers were all grown up on the north course. Fairways and greens were okay. Not sure why they started me on this course first. Should have played the south first. Rained out after 3 on south. I will go back.
Nice coirse
Course was in great shape. Guess all the rain lately help it out. It was soggy in places and it was cart path only. Played with a great bunch of guys. Pace of play was pretty good for the most part. Slowed down on the back 9. All in all I would recommend this course. Played with Tim a local, Dave and Josh from out of town. Felt like I held them up as they were all pretty great golfers.
2nd Time Round
First time we played the West/South courses and the we well taken care of and played great.
Second round we payed the North/South courses. The courses themselves were great, the bunkers on the north course might as well be filled in or removed completely. Zero courses maintenance on any of them. They are not playable at all. Out side of that I would still come play here without hesitation.
Great Greens, ok fairways, bad tees and bunkers
We played all 3 9’s on different days. The greens were very good and rolled nicely on all courses. The fairways were ok, probably needed some rain. The bunkers were very hard so be prepared. Had trouble getting our tees in the tee box and some very bad (8 on the south for sure).
West and South were fairly easy as far as elevation goes, North was mountain golf and the bunkers were GUR, all 18, wouldn’t play this one again.
A must play.
I played the West and South courses and they were in great condition. Played in a little rain which made for softer fairways and greens.
Skip the North 9
We were scheduled to play the South and West nines. The south nine was great, in good shape and very playable.
When we made the turn the twosome we were with asked the starter if we could play the north nine since they had already played the west nine the day before. Since it was our first time on the course we went along, not knowing any better. Big mistake. The west course was a bit of a disaster. Every bunker had no sand with weeds growing. The fairways were dry - seeing not watered.
The staff were very friendly and nice bar. Would play again but not the north nine.
How slow can you play?
What’s the absolute worst thing during a round of golf? Following 2 groups who do not play ready golf and the next is when the Ranger doesn’t do his job. I left with 6 holes to play and I was told another person walked off as well.
What would have been a enjoyable round ended in frustration.
Good value
Played the north and south courses. North course bunkers are not being maintained and are get, and the course tells you this on the carts. Other than that both courses are in great shape, fairways and greens were very good and most tee boxes were in good condition. The three courses always keeps it interesting when playing there often
Great course
Really nice course. Greens immaculate. Pro shop staff super nice. Starter was a little abrupt
Green Green grass
Course is in very good condition except the greens
are slow and some bunkers have no sand. I like playing this course from May to October but not when fairway grass are in dormant mode.
