Course in in great shape. Check for $65 senior rate.
Better bring your A game.
Several tees for all handicaps
However distance is not as difficult as the sloping farways & greens. You have to be able to hit uphill and downhill lies.
Greens are huge and perfect shape as are the fairways.
First time playing
We played this course for the first time on a hot deal. Usually out of our price range, there are good courses close by for much cheaper. The day we played it was after some rain for a couple days so it was cart path only. The course was in phenomenal shape, even with the wet conditions. My opinion is that it is the best course in that area. We will play again if we can find another affordable rate. Only negative is the off course amenities. You don't stop by the clubhouse at the turn and the bathroom on the from nine is a porta-potty. Not a big deal for me, but played with the wife. Big deal for her. The back nine did have a real bathroom.
A mountain jewel
Since it reopened following its renovation last year, the conditions at Sequoyah have never been better. The layout is exceptional and a challenge for all levels. If you like mountain golf, put this diamond on your bucket list!
Beautiful views. Great condition. Question some of the yardage #s from cart GPS.
Move up
2nd time I played this course. Forgot how long the forced carries actually are. Unless you hit consistent bombs with your driver, move up a set of tees. Pay attention to the flat areas of the tee boxes.
My only real complaint is that they were doing a lot of maintenance all over the course, including spraying the turf next to us while we were playing. I am concerned about possible exposure to toxins.
On 15, if you can go for it and cut the corner, you will be very close to the green. You'll see when you get to that hole.
Fantastic Golf Course and Views
In a word ... this course is STUNNING. Every tee box is a post card worthy view and the course conditions were excellent. Friendly staff were helpful in getting situated for the driving range and tee time. I've organized golf trips for over 20 years and Sequoyah National is a course that I would definitely design a golf trip around as a marquis course. Side note: Course was about and hour from Gatlinburg, TN and the drive through the Smoky Mountains NP at 7AM was delightful. Driving through the park we saw a bear crossing the road a few hundred feet ahead of us and herds of elk on the NC side as we got near Cherokee, NC.
Can't wait to play Sequoyah National again soon and I offer my highest recommendation to play this course if you can.
Keep It in the Fairway!
The fairways were reasonably wide, but be careful not to stray beyond the first cut of rough because the second cut can be brutal. The greens are undulating and very smooth, but not as fast as they appear. A good quality golf course tee to green.
Fantastic experience
The scenery is spectacular and It didn’t seem to matter how well I played or not. The layout is honest with everything in front of you. A little tough for a first timer to pick the right club and/or line from all those elevated tees. Course was in tiptop shape from tee to green. I can’t wait to play it again! .
Beautiful Mountain Course!
A must play if you're in Western NC mountains. Played in 3 hours in the afternoon.
Golf on 6/17
Fantastic course. The staff members I met were awesome and very friendly. The layout was very enjoyable and challenging. The fairway spongy grass was a different experience for me and very nice to hit from. The greens were fun to putt on and read. Unfortunately there were a lot of ball marks and unraked bunkers from the inexperienced/ inconsiderate golfers in front of me. The views were amazing. This course reminded me of my favorites from central and northern VA but far better. I will be playing this course every time we return for sure!
