About Manor House at Tanglewood Park
The Manor House Bed and Breakfast isn't your typical golf hotel or resort, but its location inside the 1,100-acre Tanglewood Park does have its advantages. It's within a mile of Tanglewood Park's 45 holes of golf, including the Championship Course, host of the 1974 PGA Championship won by Lee Trevino. The Victorian era manor dating to 1859 has been completely restored. All the rooms include their own private baths and period furniture and decor. Golfers can also stay at the cottage, guesthouse and apartment. Park amenities feature an aquatic center, horse stables, tennis courts and more.Facts

Great conditioned Course
This is the second time I played this course and it has been well maintained and difficult for me both times. You need to be a decent driver of the ball. Slicers will not do well here. Not because the holes are straight or turn right to left but because if you miss the fairways you will be in for a long day. The slopes in the fairways and elsewhere make the course very challenging. The rough is also brutal. If I missed the green, the rough was deep and made it very tough to get the ball up and down. Still, for the quality of the course, the green fee was very fair. The driving range and the practice green were immaculate. Unfortunately, the course greens had been aerated recently and, the starters assurances notwithstanding, the greens were very bumpy.
timing is everything
A great classic layout with a PGA Tour heritage. I wish we had not hit it when the greens had been punched less than two weeks before and they had overseeded three days before. Still well maintained, and a challenge to play when you're in your 60's and its cart path only.
Excellent Course, Beautiful Day
First time playing the Championship Course at Tanglewood. Great layout - easy to imagine the PGA Championship being there in 1974. The course is in terrific condition - the only drawback being they had just aerated the greens. Challenging holes that test everyone's ability. This course is a lot of fun to play.
Reynolds course
A few rough spots in the fairways, but overall good condition.
Pace was decent for following a tourney.
Great value!
nice
the course was excellent in all aspects except for the greens.......very weeded......needs attention.....1st timed played but could not understand why the golfers has to pay to get in the gate when you have already paid for the tee time or going to play the course....
Tanglewood
Paid $14.00 and it was too much for the course and condition, nice layout, but horrible shape...worse I've played in my 40 years of golfing and worse in the area.
Tanglewood Reynolds Course
Overall the course is in very good condition. There are a few greens that have some type of weeds growing that will affect putting. Everything else was excellent, but they are having problems with the greens .
big t shot course
course made 4 the use of limited clubs, if u'r a long knocker...a driver, 5wd, 6,7,8 irons will do it
poor conditions
Greens were rough (weeds). Fairways were bone dry and hard as a rock. Traps were not sandy.
Great course
Beautiful course that is well maintained except for the sand traps. There was a very thin layer of loose sand which played more like hardpan. This course has almost every green surrounded by multiple traps. requires fairly precise shots to hit the green, so if you have trouble hitting on line, lay up.
Nice facility. I like the Champions course much better the Reynolds
Loved it
With not many folks on the course on a late weekday afternoon, played from the back tees just for "fun". Played 16 sand shots in 18 holes, fired a smooth 95, and can't wait to come back! The course is BIG, and the property/terrain is awesome. I thought it was in very good condition for a public course; yes, the sand bunkers were more like dirt bunkers... but hey, you're not supposed to hit'em there! Absolutely would not miss the opportunity to experience this course if you're in the area.
Another great opportunity!
I appreciate and enjoy any opportunities that I have to play golf and enjoy the wonderful outdoor atmosphere. Tanglewood Golf course offer you just that.....an amazing experience and excellent grounds to enjoy the lovely game of golf. Thank you again and I look forward to visiting with you again.
Singled out
I played this course as a single. I wasn't sure if I was going to be paired with anyone else. It turns out I was able to breeze through the round in under three hours. That was exactly what I wanted. Great time on a great course. Oh, and the price didn't hurt either. At $15 including the online booking fee it was a great price.
Tanglewood Championship Course Still Tough
Lee Trevino edged Jack Nicklaus by 1 stroke to win the 1974 PGA Championship here. There course has not gotten any easier. Played the blue tees not knowing what to expect. The 467 yard par 4 #2 answered that question in a hurry. With 98 bunkers the course plays tough. It is a lot of fun though. Would play it again but maybe move up a set of tees.
This course is a chance to see what the old guard of Trevino,Palmer, Nicklaus were challenged with 40 years ago.
The Championship course is loaded with traps and fairway nuances that reward accuracy. The "tips" remain a challenge not always answered by a long drive. The women's tee is much more fair on distance than the typical championship style course thus making a good mix for couples wanting to play a solid track. Both courses are within an exceptional public park area.
Old school style
The course designed by RTJ is challenging with many many bunkers strewn throughout the course.
The course is in "okay" condition - it has seen better days. Still, if you are in the area and want to experience an old style classic layout then play this course.
The course is visually stunning.
Overall the course was amazing! This was my first time playing the championship course. I definitely will be coming back.
Short game is vital
There are a ton of sand traps, so be prepared to add some strokes to your game.
Good course
Beautiful arounding ,
Nice people in the club house,
The greens need a little be of work but with the heat is really understanding
Single day on real good links!
Played really well for a 14 handicap. Had three birdies, saw about 30 deer on the course, along with 4 double bogies. For $18, this was a round that I wish my buddies were retired as I am so they would have been out there also. Haven't been in the park for a couple of years. It has changed quite a bit and all for the better. The only thing that I had trouble with was the red bunker sand. It's kind of hard to get a club under the ball. Playing here more often would definitely help that situation..
