Mount Mitchell Golf Club

Played this course 2 years ago so while back in the area I thought I would give it another go. Course is in fairly good condition but play was slow and I had to pay as much for my wife to ride along with me as I did for my green fee! Not sure I’ll be back.

I had only played here once about 10 years ago. Some of the more notable changes that I noticed under the new management: the course conditions were excellent greens were pretty slow by most golfers standards but they were in perfect condition the traps were in excellent condition and all looked like they had been raked and maintained to start the day the tea boxes just simply needed to be mowed but other than that no complaints there and one of the biggest changes was it's no longer cartpath only which I'm sure improves pace of play my biggest complaint and this may be a GolfNow issue moreso than this course is I booked as a single with a twosome Saturday morning and got over there to find that the twosome decided to move their teetime to the next day which told me they were probably locals who just saw someone else had booked with them and they didn't want to play with someone.. I have run into this many times this summer in different places including my own local area and golf courses do not pair up or enforce teetime pairings and you might have singles and twosomes all over the place out there amongst threesomes and foursomes. Personally I think the golf courses are losing money by doing this and I know speaking from my own local area, the courses have gotten so packed they are leaving so much money on the table by having 10 teetimes tied up with 18 people. nonetheless I went off as a single and luckily it was early enough there were only about three big groups in front of me all who let me go through but the staff is very friendly and the course is in excellent condition and much better than the one time I played at 10 years ago I would definitely recommend and I loved the layout as it has some very forgiving holes but also has some tight harbortown type of holes where you have to hit good shots to play well

Great friendly staff and an awesome course to play. Plan a trip to the top of Eastern USA after finishing your round! A must see for sure!!! Also, check out the waterfalls only a mile from the course. I’ll for sure be back and bring the trout fishing gear.

It was 90 back home and I was out enjoying cool 75-80 temps. Can’t beat it!

Back 9 is much better than the front. Great views. Several holes along a river. No supplies or water on the course. Would definitely play it again. Could use more water in several places.

First review I've left on golf now but this course is worth it! Tee boxes are almost perfect. Same with the greens! Great layout with some big elevation change on a few holes. Great views. Played mid morning on a Tuesday and wasn't held up the entire round. Staff was extremely friendly at check in especially for it being my first time there. $60 for 18 seems to be right on the money price wise too! Definitely worth the drive and will be back!!!

Liked the new things going on , especially removing cart path only

The fact they took away cart path only has improved the pace of play. Fairways weren't soaking wet but in the past they did have more grass in fairways....which caused no roll once your ball hit but it did sit up better for your iron play. Sand in bunkers were good. Greens were smooth. Would I play here for $60? Probably not. Too overpriced for $60. Ended up getting a prepaid rate for $35 which is worth it. Love the layout of the course...some def challenging holes.

Course was in great shape. First time ever driving on fairways, HUGH PLUS!!

The greens were running well but were a little slow. Fairways were not great but playable. Understandable as the course just opened from Winter.
