Check your ego when you walk on the greens

Awesome views. Wonderful conditions. Expensive but impressive if you are entertaining. Only criticism-no driving range.
A short course that is fiercely protected by CHALLENGING Donald Ross Greens

My Overall FAVORITE course

I LOVE this course. The views from the back 9 bring tears to my eyes, they are so gorgeous. And I live in Asheville!! It has plenty of variety and is always in great shape. It's a short course, so definitely one I can hope for a great score, with my 5 years into the game.

wonderful old course with large greens

Enjoyed playing this course, they had some bridges washed out from recent heavy rains, but were repairing them. Old-style course with large, tricky to read greens with many false fronts. Helpful staff too.

Majestick Grove Park Inn and it's front lawn :)

The course suffered some wash out the night before I played due to heavy rains, so there was a temporary tee box set up for #2 when I played. An entire section of cart path had sunk into a sink hole, so there was also a temporary cart path. No bother though - once we got around that section of the course we were on our way. Play was fast - hardly anyone was out - and the course is absolutely beautiful. Mostly straight - but tight fairways on most holes.
I think the course is a bit over priced - I would never pay full rate - but it's at the Grove Park Inn - so everything is pricey.

Lunch and Golf at Grove Park Inn in Asheville, NC

If you have the money don't miss Grove Park Inn for lunch and a round of golf. While it is a great experience, my husband and I both think it is overpriced and doesn't really live up to what one might expect for the price. This is because it is a resort course. Do go to GolfNow.com for better rates.

Pace of play a concern

Played on a Sunday. Rained off after 14 holes and 4 1/2 hours. Fun, fast greens even after recent rains. I'd love to come back when a reasonable pace could be found, or just to spend a day around the greens.

Some of the holes were under construction

For the price it was a good value. Great mountain views. Greens had too many ball marks

Historic course in excellent condition.

Beautiful, historic course in excellent condition. Greens were very fast (stimpmeter 12) and hard to hold per the Donald Ross design.
This is a very enjoyable course for all levels. Greens fees seemed high but discounts are available from Golfnow.

Most bang for the buck!

With the exceptional price, including cart, that we booked we were able to play an elite course for a major discount. This course won't disappoint. Neither will the staff. Top notch all the way around.

Typical Donald Ross, fun and tough

Course was in very good shape with continual ongoing maint.
Greens well cut and recently rolled. Look out for the crows on 12 and 13 ; they will steal your food!!

Don't use the golf now map!

Purchased discounted fees on golf now and that worked great. However, the directions from golf now took us to the wrong course - Asheville country club instead of the grove park inn. Almost missed our tee time as a result. So use your own gps!

Not adapted for Golf Now

The course was in great shape. Other than that, they aren't set up for Golf Now participants. They are focused on making money and don't do well with people not on their guest list.

Couldn't get a cup of coffee prior to my tee time from the Cabana club and they wanted $17 dollars for a hot dog at the turn.

Recommend the course, just come prepared for the resort friendly perks only.

This Donald Ross Course is a masterpiece in pristine condition

You will not play a more interesting and challenging course than this Donald Ross Masterpiece. Greens are at least 12 on the stimpmeter, with bent fairways that are immaculate.

With all the other golf courses in the WNC, the GPGC is a little over priced and frankly, I 'd rather play others for half of their greens fees.

There are many more quality courses in WNC for half the cost of playing at the GPGC. It's worth playing for $55 but at $100 or $129.....I'll look around for another track.

Best Asheville Course

We have been in Asheville for two weeks and have played several local courses. Grove Park is by far the best. It is a classic Donald Ross design. You can see every shot - no blind drives or approach shots. The difficulty is determined by the greens which are undulating and several have false fronts. A pleasure to play. Conditions are excellent, although the aeration done in early April is taking time to fill in due to the cold weather. At a hot deals price Grove Park is at least $20 more than the other courses, but is well worth it. The staff are friendly and helpful.

Great Donald Ross Course

Very accommodating staff. They did everything possible to make sure I was taken care of on a very busy day. It's a fun course with lots of elevation changes on the back. The front is flatter and longer. The course is not long but requires accurate drives. The greens had recently been punched so not so smooth but they have to do that occasionally -- right? A few of the tees needed some work but all in all good value at the Golf Now price. We were staying at the Grove Park Inn so everything was very relaxed.

Greens recently aerified....

This course is one of the best in the Asheville area. The course is well maintained and has some very challenging holes. I will be returning next month when the greens come back.

Great mountain golf course.

Grove park is definitely a must play for folks who have a chance to visit Asheville. The views are spectacular, staff are super friendly, and the course is awesome. We stayed the weekend at grove park resort and had a great time.

This course has potential.

Affordable and worth the money only through GolfNow.com. Pro shop is fine; the resort personnel are not very cooperative nor easy to work with.
