Great get away.

Not a real golf test but a nice repass. Better than a Casino!

Good course

I have played there many times and always like to go back and play again. The price is right from GolfNow.

Nice track...

We walked it, and that was a nice hike. Lots of elevation changes and three or four blind shots. Loads of long (170+) par threes. You might only hit five drivers, but it should be in your bag. Greens rolled true. Informative signs on each whole if it's your first time. Great way to spend the afternoon.

Ha, ha....

So, we get to the course in time (at 1:55 --there was a road-work delay) to be on the 1st tee for our 2 p.m. tee-time. (We actually had to wait for the group ahead of us to leave the green on the par-3 first hole.) But we had been told we were late (we weren't), and that there would be a league shotgun start on every hole at 5:30, so we would need to finish by then. There had been nothing on the GoldNow website warning of this. We finished in 3:15, but my playing partner felt rushed all day, and I was concerned we'd have to fight someone to finish our paid for 18.
If you can't guarantee the full 18 to a group playing at a reasonable pace, don't offer it!

Short course but also had elevation changes

Had good time. Is a par 65 with elevation changes on a few holes. Course was maintained well, newer carts.

A few trick holes. Generally the course is in good condition.

Overall, nice course for the cost. A nice way to spend time near the coast.

Best choice for average golfers

Please check my review on Yelp.

There's a much nicer course 25 mins away but the slope rating is twice as difficult and so is the price. We're 12 and 20 handicaps and wanted to enjoy a round of golf without the frustrations of a 133 slope at Salishan Resort.

Chinook Winds has 9 par 3s and 2 per 5s nestled in a little valley that protects against the wind, at least it did at 9am on a Tuesday in mid July.

We had fun while being challenged by the rolling hills but it the risk reward and the overall experience was a big thumbs up.

Being from the flat lands of central California this course was enough of a challenge but easier than some we've played in Puerto Vallarta MX, Monterrey Ca, and Santa Cruz (which were also seaside and had side hill lies.)

If you have a lower handicap or have an abundance of patience then by all means go play Salishan! If you golf for a little challenge while having fun for half the price then try Chinook Winds.

Have a great round regardless!

Great little course

Yardage is low, but lots of elevation changes and sloped greens keep it fun and challenging.

Hilly,pretty

Though this course is relatively short,it can be quite challenging, especially when the wind is up. Number 10 is a challenge at any time. The staff was very helpful and friendly. We always enjoy playing Chinook Winds.

Mediocre course with a few interesting holes.

Holes 6,9, 10,16 and 18 are interesting, The rest are mediocre. The greens are small but putt relatively well. The course is 'pacific rim' hilly so some mishit shot will run 200 yards sideways The course needs work and owners Chinook Winds Casino has plans to upgrade the course. There are a number of blind shots to uphill greens. The staff is really great but they don't have much of a course to work with. There is an indoor driving range into screens and two greens for practice. The course is okay and has many bargain times. Is is the ugly step cousin to Salishan golf course ten miles away. I have played the course more than thirty times.

Great review! Helped me make my decision about playing there this weekend. I'll pay money for good golf, but from what you have said, and what others have said... this course just isn't worth the money. Not to mention a par 65, 6500 yrd. course = cheap.
