Great course neglected
Salishan is a great course. One would think it would be in prime condition for July 4th weekend (busiest of the year so far?). No; fairways rough (mowed grass laying on fairways, splotchy). Greens were good.. Snack bar not open?? Garbage cans overflowing. Practice ball machine not working correctly. Too expensive for what you get. I’ve played here over twenty years. This is worst condition I have seen. Bob
challenging course
awesome setting . best golf course in libcoln city
Fast Greens.
The course is in fantastic shape with quick greens. Bring your A game to place yourself in good position off the tee.
Great Mountain/Coastal Course
Part of Salishan Resort, so green fees are a bit pricey, I was lucky to qualify for Student rate. Course was hosting a PNGA tournament that day, but pro shop was still organized and pace of play was fairly good. Not as many ocean views as I was expecting, but that's on me, still a great course. Only minus was tree roots growing through cart paths made it a bumpy ride, but not a huge issue at all and the grounds crew can't control that! Shorter course yardage-wise, but lots of challenges for all levels of golfer. Greens were in fantastic shape.
Bring lots of balls, and hit it straight!
Ocean
Golf on ocean courses is painful compared to inland areas. This is a fine course but moisture makes it much harder than it would be otherwise. Still worth the money notwithstanding the theft of a few balls by Mother Nature.
A wonderful golf experience
From the moment we arrived, the staff was wonderful. They explained the course had some wet areas but the 90 degree rule would be acceptable. They also told us the greens were good. Boy were they wrong, the greens were fabulous. A little firm, true rolls and fast. What a treat. Overall Salishan is a must play!
What's Not to Like about Salishan Golf Links?
Salishan Golf Links (SGL) has it all - well-designed, well-maintained, ocean and bay views and sounds, forest-lined fairways, challenging and a great staff.
If you are local, you will want to play SGL often and if you aren't local, it's worth the trip. The best part about SGL is that you choose the degree of challenge you want for your round.
The fairways are straight, dog-legged, level and sloped to test your skills. The greens are frequently rolled to eliminate those frustrating wobbly putts.
There is a driving range, practice putting and chipping area and a practice bunker to warm-up on.
The pro shop has a helpful and friendly staff, essential golf clothing and equipment. The pub offers food and beverages. There is a fireplace and TVs for pre or post round relaxation.
Salishan Reopens
Living temporarily on Oregon coast I was really looking forward to salishan reopening since most of the courses close by are 9 holers in rough condition. Got a later tee time and the course was wide open. Course was a little wet but not nearly as bad as previous rounds I've played here. It can really be a bog. For the 1st day open after Covid it was in decent shape. Greens were true, but the fairways did have a few patchy spots. Overall it was decent. I really enjoy the back 9 on this course. The back and the front are completely different. The front plays tougher with elevated greens and tighter holes. The back I felt is more open with more opportunities to go low, although the wind can play more of a factor on the back.
Course is in great shape
The course has been closed for 2 months due to the virus, except to members who are willing to walk and carry clubs. Consequently the course is in great condition due to reduced play. Members weeded and raked the sand traps while staff was laid off. Front nine is forested and hilly. Back nine has views of the bay and ocean ... a little more links feel. This and Sand Pines/Florence are the most enjoyable public courses on the Oregon coast outside of Bandon.
Soggy Day at Salishan
Although we had carts, it felt like we walked the course today, as it was cart path only throughout the 18 holes. Even so, we finished in under 4 hours! Course was in good shape, though muddy in spots and fairway shots all plugged. Greens were slow but well-kept; bunkers were often packed down by the recent rains, but at least they had sand in them!
I loved the course layout and would definitely play this again!
wet/windy
It was as good as golf gets in a horizontal deluge with standing water everywhere. The greens were still playable. Despite the misery, the course is always a pleasure..
Nice course with variety
The Staff were very friendly, The course was somewhat damp, but that is to be expected at this time of year. So to was the chill in the air. Nice variety to the course with a fairly hilly front 9, followed by a back nine that skirts the lagoon and the shore with some great views. Very enjoyable.
Salishan Spa & Golf Resort
Spring golf in the Pacific Northwest, you can expect some inclement weather so today's overcast skies and light drizzle weren't going to keep me from exercising some new G400 irons. The temperature was a comfortable 18*C and no wind...so a fairly good day.
With a half dozen low compression balls in tow it was off to the races. The first hole is eye candy, across water & a gentle dogleg left, I split the fairway and found a perfect line into the green.
I enjoyed the layout of this course, with numerous elevation changes, left and right doglegs, a nice mix of short and long Par 4's that will allow you to decide if the risk is worth the reward, some good greenside bunkers that grab your attention, with the light drizzle a few fairways didn't roll out as far as expected but the greens were very receptive to good approach shots. I even made a few balls back up and dance. I had 10 GIR's but the flat stick was having trouble finding the right line. All the greens rolled out consistently throughout the day.
Overall a fun track, pick some good lines off the tee, make good swings and if the putter is hot, you can expect to score well.

Worth the trip!
Great course, challenging yet fairly forgiving fairways. Very fast greens, but fairly easy to read. Great condition, great variety, great views. I played in coolish slightly misty conditions and it was very good. Likely best to ride - lots of elevation change.
