Golfer Reviews
Would play again!
Course was challenging, and despite a rough score, would gladly try my luck again. Really good shape for the most part, course layout was fun and not too much need to yell fore out there. Course starter was very friendly and helpful. Lost a box of balls out there, but also found a few.
It was a great day.
My playing partner and I played a bestball scramble. We carded a 3 over par for the round. We were paired with another single who was a real mellow, young man. And he shot a great round. The pace of play was excellent, especially for being on a weekend. We finished in just under four hours.
Over sold so played in a 5-some…very compatible people, but 5 hour round…too much time on course. Still enjoyed getting out to play this demanding course, as always… and not much wind on second nine this time.
Slow and windy
There was a strong wind blowing, and it was coming from the south, which is really unusual. I booked a 2-some, but we got paired with two other singles. The pace was slow, but not ridiculous. The Marshall showed up and he asked groups ahead of us to pick up the pace. They did. The overall course was in pretty good shape, but the greens were a little bumpy.
First time in Oregon
The course was in great shape, fairways could be tight, ruff is thick. Overall it is a grea5 course, beautiful views.
Amazing Experience
From the time we walked into the Pro Shop we felt welcome and part of the family. Staff was GREAT! 4 of us played it for the first time. What a day! We will be back for sure. We then had a great time in the Grill/Pub. The Bartender was excellent, very helpful and the Lemonade rocked. Thanks for providing such wonderful experience to an old Army COL. Airborne!!!
Best Oregon coast course north of Bandon
Back around the COVID years Salishan appeared to be struggling. The traps were not even maintained, and the rest of the course seemed to be suffering similarly. It is 100% better now.
It was a really windy day.
This is my home course. So this review is for this particular round. I booked this as a twosome, and the course paired us with another single. Some people may not like that, but we happen to know this person so were okay with that. The Pace of play on the front 9 was average as this was a holiday weekend and d it was pretty booked up.
Our single dropped out after making the turn. After that, things really slowed down. The group in front of us was taking way too much time. We were hoping to see a marshal, but never did.
The wind was blowing so hard on the 15th hole, my partner and I both clubbed up, but both our shots came up short.. But we somehow managed to par the hole.
When we got to 17th green, as we started to putt, we heard someone yell "four", and right after that, a ball went flying right over the green. Scared the beejesus out of us. Again, no marshal.
We finished the round with a nice birdie. We were playing a scramble and ended up getting a score of 74.
A fun time
I was scheduled to play at 8 but showed up early. I asked if there was any availability and they let me on right away, @ 7:10 (first out, solo walker).
Staff was very friendly.
My one gripe is that the first tee time I signed up to do was priced at $202, then I found another one 2 weeks later, earlier, at $125. Odd how that works. That said, there is no discount for staying at the hotel that I'm aware of, so $125 is, IMHO, overpriced for what you get. I'd still good there again, but only if I had coupon.
It was a fun one-time experience I can check off my bucket list.
