Always a Fun Experience
Being a Sunriver resident and a Crosswater member, I play this course quite often. It is always in excellent condition. The new bunkers (2016) have improved the challenge and the esthetics. The course offers a fair challenge to golfers of all levels but does not overly punish for the inevitable errant shot. The views are exceptional, if one takes the time to enjoy them! A great course to walk.
Nice Course
Fun course to play if you want a challenge. With new greens last year and new bunkers this year the course is in great shape. Greens roll true. Try to stay out of the bunkers.
Hit a provisional if you get into the tall grass.
If your ball sails into the tall grass along every fairway you will be very lucky to find it or if you do you will be very lucky to get it out. The tall rough gets watered, but not cut. The course is well maintained and can be a fun outing, but keep it on the fairway. the course is well run and the staff employees are friendly and helpful. There are lots of trees on this course and on some holes they come into play because they are situated in the middle of the fairway. Several holes have water to avoid, but none of the hazards are blind. Ball placement is your friend on this course. The views on almost every hole are spectacular, so if your game is not going so well at least you can enjoy the scenery. I would not recommend this course for a beginner because it would turn into a frustrating round of golf. It is fine for the intermediate golfer who has some control of their ball flight. Experts have a lot of fun. There are five teeing positions to select based on the golfers ability. Admittedly, there are always some golfers who select a teeing position beyond their ability and end up having a miserable round. Woodlands is a course built for fun.
Very friendly for a walker but carts are free..
The course is quite flat with nice scenery on every hole. The new sand bunkers and greens are very nice. The fairways are lush and green. The course maintenance is superb. The staff is right there to help you at every turn. The course can be as hard/challenging as you want to make it with five teeing positions. There are no blind shots from the tee that yield a surprise when you reach your ball, like some courses. It is appropriate for the high handicapper as well as the low handicapper. Every golfer can enjoy their golf on Meadows.
An Updated Classic Golf Course
I live in Sunriver and have an annual pass so I can play the Meadows and Woodlands as often as possible. Never get tired or bored with the courses. The Meadows has rebuilt all of their bunkers with a new concept. High grass around them and soft sand in them. Very interesting. They have a great practice bunker that should be used to get the feel of the sand. The driving range is great.
Most of the course is level. There are a few water hazards but nothing too difficult. A few of the fairways are in the woods and are narrow and long. Some of the fairways are in the open which can expose you to the wind. The greens are all newly seeded and are very true. Course maintenance is great. The main Sunriver Resort Lodge is at the start and end of each 9 holes. Great place to relax after a round.
Challenging but fun.
I live in Sunriver, on the 16th Fairway of the Woodlands. I purchase an annual pass so I can play either the Woodlands or Meadows as often as possible. Love both courses. Woodlands is a bit more challenging and has varied features. Water comes into play, fairways can be a bit narrow, most greens are elevated. Grass beyond the mowed rough can be very thick so accurate shots are best. Greens run very true and can be fast. McDivots is where you can get food and beverages or from the beverage cart. Both are OK, but McDivots closes too early. Beautiful scenery.
One of my favorites
As a Sunriver member I play this course regularly.
I love the layout as every hole is different with elevation changes and a variety of doglegs.
The course is always in great condition with well groomed fairways and quick, true and receptive greens.
My only criticisms are that the sand traps need more sand - very hard in places and the rough is punishing.
The views and surroundings are wonderful.
Very fine course
While I play this course regularly, I always enjoy the experience with some challenging holes and very playable ones
The course is now in very good condition with fast and true greens ( although could be more receptive) well groomed fairways and new sand traps which can be tough, but fair.
The views are wonderful.
The course has challenging sand traps
Watch getting into the sand traps. They have been completely redone and are more like the sand traps at the US Open in Washington. They have done a great deal of work on the greens and are very true. The staff makes you very welcome.
The course has beautiful views
Stay straight down the middle and the course opens up to play. You meet golfers from all over the world and most have made this part of their visits more than once. The staff is great.
SR Woodlands
Beautiful views.
Generous fairways, but if you wander the rough can be punishing.
SR Meadows
The new bunkers are challenging but provide consistency throughout the course.
Beautiful views of the Cascades
Great course with great staff
This course is a great play for the price. Course was in great shape, greens were fair and honest, and staff was very pleasant.
very nice golfing experience in Central Oregon
A very well designed layout for the course. One of my favorite courses to play due to the scenery, trees and general ambiance.
The course was is good conditions, with the greens putting true and medium-fast. Typically, the ball would bounce and roll a little, even with a high iron approach shot.
Fantastic Course
This is my favorite course in Centeal Oregon. It's a must play - you will not be disappointed. It is a beautiful, challenging layout.
Beautiful Course
This course is in excellent condition & is one of the finest resort courses in Central Oregon. I would highly recommend playing it.
Enjoyable Course
Beautiful setting within a Ponderosa Pine environment. Challenging, but fair.
Fantastic course conditions - excellent and friendly staff
Wonderful course with great views.
Great staff, great conditions
Classic Sunriver - a must play course.
Best shape I've ever seen.
Usually we get out to the Woodlands a few times a summer (open 7-8 months due to weather), but this year we have been playing every other week. The course is in fantastic shape. The staff have continued to provide top of the line service, and the food is pretty good too.
