Uhoh turned into a great day!!
I booked a tee time at 11pm at night through GolfNow for 10:30 the next morning. My gut told me to call first thing in the morning to confirm the tee time. We showed up at 10:00. I took my 2 boys and a family friend for their first experience at cross creek. When we arrived, the very nice lady at the counter wasn’t aware of our tee time for some reason. She said it was not problem at all and told us to go outside and find the boss after she gave us our cart passes. We went outside and found the “boss” talking to 2 gentlemen on a golf cart. He hooked us right up with a smile on his face the entire time. In fact, due to them being unaware of our tee time, he took us to the south course which was more open at that time. After golfing the south 9, went stopped for lunch and he fit u right into the north course to finish our round. My sons (23,16) had an amazing time and we will most definitely be back!!!!!!
Underrated 9
The South 9 is the secret sauce here. It’s tighter, so a challenge for those who spray the ball, but shot values are consistently higher than the more open North 18. This 9 is real Western PA golf, with elevation changes, tight fairways, and small greens. The routing is more private, even though it is compact and walkable. Conditions were prevent,,but not great, when I played. Greens were lush, a bit slow but rolling true. Fairways were okay but spotty. Overall, the place is kind of shabby chic, but still a fun play.
Fair Course
Greens are excellent. Not slow and not skating rink fast but lots of movement makes for lots of fun and challenging putts for people that don’t play this course often. South course is a great layout with a few tight fairways. Fairways on the south course were better than the north front 9. North front 9 had quite a few dead spots and dirt in the middle of the fairway which made hitting the fairway not a huge advantage but in NW PA, it’s hard to keep the fairways perfect. 19th hole staff was friendly and food was a great price and good food at that. Starter and greenskeeper were very friendly.
Great day at Cross Creek
My son and I played 18 holes. Beautiful course and a very enjoyable round! We definitely be back again.
How to ruin a beautiful Late Fall Saturday.
This is pretty simple we show up for a Prepaid Tee Time at 10:30 am and there was no one there course was closed not a single person at the resort all pins all tee boxes / markers were all gone complete ghost town quite a shock after driving an hour to get there . Quite the disappointment is an understatement I hold the golf course/resort and golf now completely responsible for this major screwup.
Wrong Course
The course the link goes to and the tee time is in PHILADELPHIA NOT CHERRY TREE. DO NOT USE THIS LINK THINKING YOU'RE GETTING A TEE TIME AT THE TITUSVILLE/CHERRY TREE COURSE. Golf Now needs to fix this.
The Cherry Tree club is well maintained, friendly staff. Challenging course.
No idea how the Philly course is, it's SIX HOURS AWAY.
Disappointing
I grew up in this area and Cross Creek was always the shiny diamond on the hill. It was meticulously kept and attracted out of towners as it main source of golfers. The greens fees were always the highest around and warranted this. Now, 50 years into my golfing career, I returned to the area with great anticipation and found a very average maintained, over priced track. The entire round I found myself just shaking my head and repeating to my playing partners; “I can’t believe this”. To sum things up with three words; lack of effort.
Bad location Information on App
Golf Now has this Course listed as Cross Creek Resort of Philadelphia. I booked it. It is actually in the far north western part of Pennsylvania. I should have checked the actual city location. That was my fault, but I felt that I was mislead. The app said there were no refunds.
Extremely disappointing.
A great course
Have played North 18 and. South 9 many times. They are both very well maintained and the staff is great. Many elevation changes, couple of water holes, some sand. Greens are excellent with lots of breaking putts. It's more of a challenge than most of the area courses. South 9 even more so...shot makers course. Well worth the investment.
Isn't that just wonderful. You give one of the absolute best courses in Northwestern PA a one star rating because YOU never learned how to read a map???
