Great course for price
Had a 10:40 tee time and only had a twosome in front of us. 3 1/2 hour round. If possible play with someone who has played the course before as multiple holes had blind shots. Greens were tough if you place the ball on the wrong part of green. Definitely a challenge but enjoyed the course. Sand traps need work though. Restaurant pricy, beer & soda was 8
Great course
The layout of this course is fun and challanging.
Well worth your time
I nailed this on a Golfnow Friday hot rate of $10. It was a sunny, but blustery fall day. I drove an hour and 20 mins from Binghamton NY to play as a solo, as all my normal golfing buddies were busy. The course was pretty much deserted, with only 5 other cars in the lot. The starter was cordial and I was quickly through the check in process and ready to go. The couple that I was supposed to be paired with asked to play alone, as one of them was a newbie, so the starter sent me off alone on the back 9 first. I was thankful for that and played the back 9 unobstructed in an hour and 20 mins. I made the turn with a wave to the starter and breezed through the front 9 in nearly equal time. The course is beautifully maintained and well designed. This is mountain golf at its best, with lots of elevation change and little room for mistakes. As such, don't expect to shoot your career low round here. I hit the bar after the round and had a sandwich and a couple beer. Staff were courteous and the food tasty. It was a day we'll spent. I'll definitely be back.
Great game!
The conditions were great this day. Staff was very accommodating. Cart was prepared upon arrival and loaded by the staff. Was a slow day so not overly crowded. Course was in great condition and scenery was amazing.
Mount Airy Ray
Course was great. But the Sand traps had minimal sand in them. This could be improved
Mount Airy
I read a ton of reviews on the course before playing it for the first time. It is an extremely hilly course, both up and down. We arrived a little early and the starter was able to get us out early as a twosome. It seems like this course really pushes the pace of play which is great. There is a sign outside the pro shop letting you know that and we also saw the ranger about 6 or 7 times during the round. Even at the turn, when ordering hotdogs and a candy bar, they bring it out to you on the course so that play does not stop moving.
First hole out of the gates is an up hill par 5 that you are looking up at. It has a pond that you cannot see right about the 150 marker. It is a tough hole to start on especially with no driving range. There is a few doglegs that drop down to the green. Some I would say around 50 feet. There is a lot of blind shots that would require you to play a few times to get your distances and clubs correct. There is a good amount of water on the course, which always keeps the round fun. I really did not think any of the holes were unfair but some of the design left me scratching my head.
The greens were in great shape, rolled very nicely but were a little hard and tough to hold. The fairways were in nice shape and the rough was a little patchy at times. Overall, the shape of the course was great
Beautiful course
Except for the blind shots where a very good drive wound up 200ft down into a ravine the course was ok. Its tough as My courses go but in mint condition. Not for beginners or hackers.
Great features; know where the hazards are.
GPS was more than helpful playing course for first time. Straight shots are good but many shots needed to be L or R to avoid water and hazards on 1st 'n 2nd shots. Lay-ups were big! Challenging course; looking forward to playing it again.
Landscape was great
The course was a pleasure to play. I would definitely play it again.
Scenic but difficult
Extreme elevation changes. Seldom had a flat lie. Many blind shots. Challenging, perhaps difficult greens, to judge. Very scenic and we'll maintained. Would be willing to give it a second chance now that I know where Tha problem are. My wife on the other hand will not give it a 2nd.chance. women's and sr. Tees were not very user friendly.
Mt. Airy is the place to play!
As it is somewhat challenging, I would still consider it to be a top notch course to play. I'd also like to mention that anytime I have played there, the greens and fairways have been in beautiful condition. There is also a pristine putting green which was opened just this year. If visiting the Poconos, consider it a must to play a round at this lovely 18 hole beautiful!
Course design and condition very good!
The design of the course is challenging but fair. Greens were in very good shape. Great value. Worth the trip from NJ
Typical Pocono course
The fairways were fairly large and lush. The greens were exceedingly large I found them quite accessible however I also found them quite slow. The views on the course a remarkable except when you get off the fairway and pass what little rough you have and get into the underbrush was exceedingly thick and you didn't want to get in there for a Sunday play speed of play was excellent I'll weather was remarkably beautiful the day was more than we anticipated
CAN'T BEAT IT !!
Saw it for 22 bucks for a 7:00 am tee time and COULDN'T RESIST and BOY AM I GLAD , LOL !! I got there just before 6 and was the FIRST ONE THERE -15 minutes later the starter showed up . He paired me with two other singles and we were the first ones on the course at exactly 7 !! It was the most ENJOYABLE round I've ever played BY FAR ! No one IN FRONT of us holding us back and no one IN BACK pushing us - it just COUNLDN'T have been MORE ENJOYABLE !! I think it was the main reason I shot my best round of the year too . The course itself is THE BEST IN THE POCONOS - nearly FLAWLESS as far as conditions go . It's safe to say that I'll be back real soon AT THE EXACT SAME TIME !!
Great course
very nice layout and it was maintained extremely well. The 4 some of 2 guys and their 2 wives DID NOT let us play thru all day and it was 3 of us guys! Starter didn't even say anything to them either about it, very frustrating! Other than that a great course but I do recommend a yardage/layout book if you never played, a lot of blind shots.
Greens are in great shape
First time our foursome played there.course was in great shape. I had the best round of the year. We felt the course was a little gimicky. ie tree in front of the green and 16th hole no flat landing area on short par 4. We all would like to play again.
Mount Airy
Overall, great and challenging course. Got a great deal on price for the quality of this course. The only complaint I have of this course is about the sand traps. The sand traps need to be attended to more often. Weeds are growing around the edges and many hard spots. I would recommend you get the course guide because there are a lot of blind shots and necessary lay-ups.
best deal for golf
This is one of the best golf courses in the area. If you can put in the drive time the course is in outstanding shape. The price is fantastic, no problems with wait times, and challenging from tee box to greens. Look forward to playing again.
One of the best in the Poconos
Great spot to play. Very clean greens and once you get the back 9 and the fairways open up...they look for the taking...you know it was a good day.
Great Course
I played on a Sat at about 2:30 and the pace was average but the course was beautiful. I have played many nice courses in North Carolina and I enjoyed this one just as much! Just a really fun course overall and in great shape. The staff was great and when we put our food order in on the turn we continued play and they delivered it to us. I paid $25 through Golfnow but would easily pay twice that. I have to rate 5 stars because I have no complaints
