Garbage
$100 to golf this atrocity. $40 maybe. Under water bc it rained over night. Cart paths only. Which were sand. Dramatically overrated - if ur from western PA you have already golfed many courses better for $40-$50.
Top Notch
This place never disappoints. Must play when at Myrtle Beach
Wow!
That's what your gonna say right from the beginning entrance drive down the tunnel of oaks and Spanish moss. We caught a break on the price cause they were running a special in conjunction with Folds of Honor where you donated $10 on top of the greens fees. Cost $69!! Somebody call a cop! Anyway, As you would expect with such a pricey course( prime rounds are around $150) it was in magnificent condition from tee to green. It's annually voted by popular Golf magazines as one of the top 100 you can play and they ain't joking. Great layout with 3 tees to chose from. Not overly long but accuracy is a key if you want to score here. Greens were impeccable. the only gripe i could come up with is the lack of yardage markers. I'd suggest bringing your range finder. If money is not an object get down here and play this course or you can wait til the off season and get it slightly cheaper. It does not disappoint,
Like Playing Golf Thru A Botanical Garden
I've never been overly impressed by the layout of the course. Maybe 3-4 memorable holes. However, it is like playing golf thru a botanical garden. Flowers, trees blooming, majestic trees. They have workers there who just attend to the landscaping. I just love the drive up the road to the clubhouse. Lined with large oak trees with the Spanish moss. The clubhouse is great with the rocking chairs overlooking the 18th green. The restrooms at the turn are the best you will find on a golf course. On one of the par 3's, you made a donation to a military charity, you got a towel and 20% off in the pro shop. A nice touch. The other 3 players who had never played here before - just raved about this place.
7 days of playing in MB and what a way to finish the trip!
We drew weather that was as special as this course...80 and low humidity! My buddy, John started out the round by getting a new bag at Caledonia while my wife and I sported new bonnets!!( See photo). We warmed up on True Blue's range which is a sister course to Caledonia and just a mile down the road. The range staff there even warned us that the True Blue putting green was a bit slower than Caledonia's greens so beware-now that's special treatment! We started on # 1 at 12:40 with very little traffic.....#1 runs down the side of the beautiful entry road while #10 runs on the other side of the road-just beautiful! The ladies loved the flowering and landscaping while I also loved the bunkering and how they were placed. I played the Pintail Tees(back)and it was awesome to view from the tee. There seemed to be plenty of room fairway-wise so that was great to see. The greens were about an 11 and were pure. My wife loved and was glad she decided to play it. It gives her, her 1st top 50 course in US for either men or women!
Nothing else to be said-play it if given the opportunity...spend the $$$ and "cash in" on the memories!! Special disclaimer-my buddy, John, paid for my green fee as well as my wife's!!!

Expectations
Nice Mike Strantz design. Nice course for 60-79 bucks but not any more. Some holes were scenic and some were pretty normal. Little hyped up. Just me opinion. Good course overall.
A different type of Strantz
True Blue is a fun course to play. Pretty easy compared to his other courses. Fairways and greens are extremely forgiving. Course was in great shape.
MUST PLAY
THE COURSE HAD ALOT OF RAIN IN THE DAYS PRIOR TO ROUND BUT COURSE HELD UP WELL. FOR ME MUCH MORE PLAYABLE THAN CALEDONIA. BAIL OUT AREAS AND WIDE FAIRWAYS. NOT FOR THE BEGINNER OR SHORT HITTERS. NOT AS "TRICKED" AS OTHER STRANZ DESIGNS.
DOWN HILL PUTT STOPPED IN GA
FULL DISCLOSURE I DIDNT PLAY MY BEST BUT THE SPEED OF THE GREENS WERE CRIMINAL. UPHILL 12 FOOTER WITH 4 FT OF BREAK. COURSE IS AS SCENIC AS ANY BUT AT $100 LOCAL OFF SEASON NOT ENJOYABLE. FAIRWAYS A TAD FIRM. ALL THAT IT SHOULD BE ON VISITOR LIST FOR SCENARY
True classic
A different course than its sister, Caledonia. Like Caledonia, though, this is must-play golf in Myrtle Beach. Every hole is a treat. Conditions are always great. First-rate operation. Word to the wise ... Play the tees commensurate with your ability. Otherwise, it's going to be a long day.
Pristine
You don't go to Paris and skip the Louvre. It's the same for Myrtle Beach and Caledonia. From the drive to the course through the round, this is prime golf. Every hole is a postcard. Play it. Play it again.
Premium Course
This course was in great shape and the greens were fast and overall the course was in great shape. Some negatives, our round took 5 hours this should not happen at a premium course. There were no club and ball washers on the carts. everthing else was very good.
Strantz=Genius
Great course by a great architect. Every hole keeps you on your toes. A lot of fun.
What a treat.
Great layout and 10 beautiful holes that were framed by large yet fair waste areas. Course was in great shape tee to green. Greens were smooth and rolled true. Get a course map to aid in tee shots. we played white tees to accommodate all players in our group so hat to choose 3 woods or hybrids on a number of holes but plenty of room for driver on majority. From blues apparently difficult and plenty of room for driver. If I played again it would be from blue tees.
loved this course. just wish a little cheaper or we had used a service to get better rates then booking online ala carte.
Caledonia
Beautiful course, must play everytime we go down. 16, 17 & 18 are great finishing holes. Greens were great. Woman selling the photos was a little much. Love the clubhouse & pro shop. Great staff.
Beautiful Course - Will be back!!!
Just going to keep this short and sweet because I'm sure it's all been said already. This course is beautiful. Greens rolled true (my speed was most of the day though), fairways were in great shape. I'll be back...and hopefully I'll be putting better next time.
Good not Great
Not quite up to the standard of its sister course, Caledonia, but a very good course nonetheless. Wide landing areas make it easy to get off the tee, but it does get quite challenging after that. It's always on our play list during our semi-annual spring trek to MB.
Always a Treat
Not much to add to all the other great reviews. Our group's semi-annual visit to MB would not be complete without a round at Caledonia.
great course
one of the top 10 courses I have ever played. I wished I had played better but thats not the courses fault. Everything from the clubhouse, clam chowder, to the 18 hole was awesome. Probable won't ever get to play again because of the price and so many other great golf courses to play in the area. You better know how to putt when you come here, and look out for gators.
when I played last after my round my clubs were cleaned and wiped down after the round. there was no nee for a club washer on the cart.
