Course conditions were not as good as I had seen in past. Lots of rough spots and bare spots in fairways. Greens were ok at best.
Amazing Layout, Tough Conditions
The course is in rough shape right now due to dry weather. Seems like they're letting things settle until more rain comes our way; I do not blame them. This dry spree is tough to keep up with.
We got a discount for course conditions, which was great. Staff was super awesome. The course was in rough shape, but not bad enough to where I was upset with the price paid with the discount.
The course is a must play for any golfer. The design is unique and challenging. The back and front 9 play like two different courses, so that is really fun to see. Get out here when you can, I've seen it when conditions are better and it's definitely worth a trip!
Not worth the money
Patchy and dead fairways. Dead patches in greens. Bunkers have lost so much sand you can see underlayment sticking out. The areas that did have grass completely full of mud. If this course was in shape it would be beautiful and I’d drive from Nashville to play it but, don’t waste your time
Third time
Enjoy playing the course, staff has always been great.
Just playing!
Met a relative there for a good round, very relaxing time.
1st time
Moved to the area a year ago and have played other local courses. Enjoyed my first round at this course and will certainly be back.
Course in poor condition
Course was in poor condition. Many fairways had bare spots & weeds. Greens were hard & difficult to get the ball to stay on the green. Was told by staff would be cart path only for a little while as the fairways were being sprayed. Still cart path only after 4 hours. Many areas of the course needed to be mowed.
Travel Break
Wife and I played here on our way to Nashville, good decision. We enjoyed it.
Jack, you can do better
Layout was nice, other than that, wasn't impressed at all. Fairways were patchy, sand in the bunkers was thin (could easily see the fabric under the sand in MULTIPLE bunkers), tee boxes were rock hard at times, and greens were fair as far as conditions.
Good course. Little expensive
The course was a decent course but it was a little expensive for what it was. Greens were recently aerated so they were being worked on. The staff was very friendly
Beautiful course in a State Park
Nice course with fun holes. Course was in good but not great shape. Very friendly staff. We were about the only players on the course so great pace of play.
Needs upkeep
The fairways weren't cut very short, and the rough was pretty thick. Worse of all, the greens had been aerated, and had not filled in. Looked like a Chinese checker board. Every putt bounced like a tiny basketball.
Bad shape
This course has been around for a long time I know the greens have been punched and had to heal back but the fairways were downright disappointing and the tee boxes that's the worship I've ever seen the course in my life
Course is in bad shape
Visited the golf course on 10-24-2022 and was not impressed.
Here are the 3 things this course has issues.
1. Fairways were a mess with the disease from over watering.
2. Greens were ate up with a disease. Black patches all over.
3. Rocks were all over in the sand traps. Not a few, but a lot.
Drove from Nashville to play this course and it wasn’t worth it.
Should be charging 40 instead of 80. Course is in to bad of shower to be charging full price. Didn’t expect a “Bear Trace” course to look like this!
Slow Day at the course
Very Very slow day, 5 hour and 15 minute round not fun. Take a shot wait, take a shot wait…. But we survived and the weather was great.
