About Horseshoe Bay Resort

Horseshoe Bay Resort is a Texas Hill Country Mecca for golf, home to four 18-hole championship golf courses. The resort, about an hour's drive west of Austin and an hour's drive north of San Antonio, features three 18-hole championship courses designed by Robert Trent Jones Sr., as well as a private course, Summit Rock, designed by Jack Nicklaus and available to members and property owners. The resort sits on the shores of Lake LBJ and features a yacht club with small beach area. Guests can choose between hotel tower rooms or larger, family-friendly villa accommodations. The resort completed a sweeping renovation in 2020 that enhanced every corner of the resort from golf to lodging. The Whitewater Putting Course is a natural grass, 18-hole course that can be enjoyed by all ages. The Jungle Kids Club also keeps kids entertained while the family enjoys this Hill Country enclave.

One of Jack's newest and most fun courses

If you are fortunate enough to play it, Summit Rock is a standout Hill Country private club and one of Jack Nicklaus' more fun designs. The course has a wonderful setting and the amenities are even better (the driving range is complete with rocking chairs, music, fire pits, you name it -- you could spend all day here working on your game). The course has lots of risk-reward options like reachable par 5s, drivable par 4s, etc. In typical Jack fashion, you will be tested, particularly off some tee boxes, and the greens are very difficult, while bunkers can be menacing. The course is open only to members, but hopefully one day they will open it up to resort guests too (like with the club's three other courses).
