Great deal for the price
We enjoyed the course immensely.
the Wind was a nuisance but the course layout is challenging and the greens are in great shape .
Hadn't played here in a while will definitely come back soon esp at this price
Demanding Course
What can you say!! I chipped in for birdie on number eight. Great course! Very challenging from any tee. I always enjoy playing here. Every chance I get. Especially nice in spring when nature adorns the landscape with new growth. What a delight!
Great course at great value
Course was in great shape despite receiving a large amount of rain the last couple of days.
Negative changes with new management
Course is under new management that has little concern for members. They are making many changes to the course...narrowing fairways, letting the rough grow higher, over watering fairways (their contract with the water district requires that they pump a minimum of grey water each day), etc. The rough is so deep that it is difficult to find your ball even if only one yard off the fairway, greatly slowing play. Even when it hasn't been raining, they overwater several fairways and many areas are soggy. Prior management watered in waste areas rather than the fairways. Because of the wet/soft fairways, your drives no longer run out...it is as if you are hitting a wedge with every shot as your drive frequently stops only 5 feet beyond it's landing spot. If you are not a low single digit handicap player, the course is no longer fun. Most golfers will struggle on this course the way it is now formatted. Monthly membership dues were more than doubled, some increased as much as 250%. Membership is no longer a good value.
Nice track but punched greens
Falconhead is always a solid experience. The staff is always welcoming, starters know what they are doing and the beverage cart is around often enough.
Today’s round could have been better and here’s how.
The pin placement on the starter station said 2, it was 3 (easy enough to figure out); we were told scatter, front nine was posted as 90 and the back at cart path only, we made decisions by hole. The greens were punched and we didn’t know in advance. Great track and not my first time there, I’ll be back but hoping for some upside
Nice layout.
I think,This place is one of nicest place to play for public course .
Solid track
Solid track with impeccable fast greens, mostly solid tee boxes and fairways with little run. For all the long up hill par fours, the next was a short par four. Play with strategy and you’ll play well. Play without and the course will win. Greens run true, faster than most but watch the hole...it’s easy to lip out. Enjoy the 8th hole. Probably the best par 3 in all of the Austin area.
Nice Condition
Greens were perfect. Course and Staff were excellent.
Fun day
Got off early from work and wanted to get out for a quick round. The round took a little over 3 hrs, course in great condition.....just an enjoyable round. It helps that I was playing well but this is certainly a challenging course from any tee.
Lakeway Yaupon - Hill Country golf on a budget
Recently played the Yaupon course for the first time in several years. It's not a fancy course, but the staff is friendly enough. The driving range isn't much to speak of, but you can get warmed up. Same for the putting green.
The course is quirky, but kind of fun. There are some pretty dramatic elevation changes, including a ridiculously uphill par 5 to kick things off. The layout is unique, but it's not particularly well maintained so it's not as enjoyable as it could be. The 18th is another interesting par 5, with a giant drop off the tee shot, and then a massively uphill 2nd shot to the green.
I wouldn't go out of my way to play this course again, but if you are looking for a laid back round in a scenic environment this may be the place for you. I'd say it's comparable to Lago Vista.
Falcon Head Review
Views were very scenic. Course conditions were fantastic. Would definitely play again.
Aerated Greens
I love Falconhead. Just was a challenge because the greens were aerated and pave was crawling.
Thank you for playing Falconhead with us. Although it is a disruption in playing conditions, aerification is necessary to maintain the conditions for the standards we set. Our website is always available to check our aerification schedule.
Sometimes our pace of play could be 4 hours or less, however the weekends might be more than that because of the amount of play. We still attempt to get all rounds in by 4:20. Thanks again.
Falcon head Review
This course is top notch challenging for any golfer. The greens are smooth and roll fair and when I played it was windy witch made it a little more interesting. The signature par 3 is beautiful as is the whole experience.
Thank you u726105949 for the five star rating and review. We hope to see you tee off again at Falconhead this season.
