Best public course in austin
I've always heard great things about falconhead and finally made the trip. It's easily worth the $50 we paid. Got a hot deal. Best greens in Austin right now for sure. It's very peaceful and relaxing out there. Would love to play this course on a daily basis
Perfect place to play
This was my second time playing the course and the experience was great! I booked a hot deal through golf now and was treated as a guest regardless (not always the case at nicer courses). The course is well kept and the staff is helpful.
Up and down hills
Fun course. A little more challenging than expected
Great Layout
Course is great in both design and condition. Pace of play was close to 5 hours, had to wait on almost every shot. I expect this from the Austin muni's but I expect more when paying close to $100 a round.
Falconhead
Good time to play golf. It would have been a better value had they provided free range balls.
Love this track....
Falconhead is one of the premier courses in central Texas. It is quite difficult with side hill lies, elevation changes, and undulating greens. If you are willing to score a little higher but enjoy a great course then Falconhead is right for you.
Excellent Course
Played in 35 degree weather and still had a great time. Very long course, but definitely playable for a high handicapper such as myself. Incredible views.
Will definitely play again
The staff was friendly, the practice facilities are great. Wanted to check out the hype. Not a tough layout but definitely the longest course I've played in the Austin area, many elevation changes. Not complaining, actually very welcoming, it felt like playing back in Colorado. Greens in good shape and fast for this time of year, fairways dormant and had way too many divots for the quality of course. Seemed a little over priced for off season golf. Overall, can't wait to get out and play again when the course greens up.
Falconhead
Overall it was a chilly day - high was 53 degrees...but, the course itself was in good shape. Staff/Marshalls were extremely nice and kept play moving along!
Bad customer service
Person answering the phone today could hardly bother himself with questions about green fee availability and hung up on me twice before I could book a tee time, in a hurried manner. We've all experienced this, the pro shop control freak, just the slightest bit of customer service would have been appreciated. I play here a several times a month and was considering a membership for the summer because I live 100 yds away in the heights, I'll have to rethink this due to the poor service. If you don't have a membership, this course is not worth the regular price.
Great Golf Course
Enjoyed the day of Golfing and met some nice people.
Good course
This is the first course to play outside of Barton creek. It is a nice course with one or to very nice holes. Not impressive nor a PGA course. It is a good bang for your buck. Take a gps with you or at least a range finder. Although the course is well marked and you can get around no problem, you might need it. If you are a 15hcp or below play the blacks.
Enjoy
This is a beautiful course.
The weather was cold and wet. Miserable in fact, but the staff went out of their way to make or experience great. The course drained well and the rain slowed the greens enough for us to enjoy our first time there. Great layout.
Scenic Course
I normally play in Dallas so I am accustomed to flat. Many elevation changes and scenic holes on this course. Many holes very visually pleasing. The staff was noticeably extremely friendly. I played as a single in the afternoon and only waited on one tee box, very briefly. The course seems to be in great condition for a drought in the area, Lake Travis is practically gone. The greens were particularly difficult to read, very deceiving, but my skill may be a factor in that as well. Overall, a very enjoyable experience and I will return.
What a beautiful Course
The views themselves were worth the money. The course is in fantastic condition. Fairways(when I actually hit one) were magnificent. Bunkers had tour quality sand in them and played great(had a few bunker shots). The course is a challenging layout with some tough holes, some easy holes, some risk/reward holes, water, sand and trees make it tough to play and accuracy is a must. Play it, you will not regret it. But watch for the greens, fast and undulating.
Fun course, challenging if you miss the green.
I played as a single out here and had a great time. You have to land your approach shot on the green otherwise you are going to have trouble. The greens roll true and were very fast. I liked the layout and fact that even with smaller greens you could still attack the pin.
Overpriced
Even via Golfnow, we paid $89. Rental clubs were $55 per set and were well worn. Greens were bumpy with ballmarks everywhere. Then, to top it off, they permitted a fivesome of members in the group ahead of us. They may have been waiting as well since the pace of play is always an issue.
Falconhead
I liked it. Towards the end we did get behind some walkers that slowed us up. There wasn't a marshall speeding them up or asking them to let us through so, we went around them and skipped a hole. It was getting dark, and we wanted to get in as many holes as we could.
favorite golf course
By far one of the best golf courses in Austin Texas, staff is always welcoming amd friendly. .golf course is always in immaculate shape..Definitely a challenging golf course. ..i would highly recommend this course to anyone...and the scenery is great..nothing boring about the course or area...can't wait to play it again
Falconhead
Spectacular day and the course was in great shape, highly recommend.
