Excellent layout
The front nine was challenging! I loved it! The back nine kept us guessing. I'm definitely playing it again!
Phenomenal condition
Played on 8/18. I have played almost all high end clubs in the Austin area and none of them save for ACC around match play time are any better conditioned. I was beyond impressed with course conditions from tee to green especially in the dead of summer. Guy in the shop took the time to go through the yardage book with me and give me an idea as to how to play virtually every hole. There are several blind tee shots which would require playing a few times to get comfortable but all in all great layout. Only the blind shots keep this from 5 stars all the way around. If this place were closer to Austin and stayed semi private they could get between $70 and $100 for it all day everyday.
Lightening Greens
Took a group of 13 players. All comments from the group praised the conditions of the course. Greens were slick, but putted true. Only one player complained on the firmness of the greens. Others disagreed and thought they were okay. Course has an interesting and challenging layout with lovely views of the countryside, We'll definitely put this course back on our playing list, even though over an hours drive to get there. Staff was very accommodating and friendly.
A Gem In Hill Country
Had an awesome deal through Golf Now. Went to Kingsland from Austin, and the course was in a unique location.
The course is in great condition, and real friendly staff and owner.
The layout was cleverly made and half of the holes make you really think out your shot.
I really enjoyed the course. Play well for the ladies because of nice upfront red tees, and good for seniors as well.
Some unusual holes
This course always intrigues me, the layout of a couple of holes leave you scratching your head. Number 2, while short has a challenging dogleg, followed by an opposite dogleg on number 3. Number 6, while reachable in 2, you better be able to stick a long iron. Then number 10 has to be the worst par 5 in the hill country, no way to play to get on in 2...
Fun Course
I played this course a few weeks earlier and loved it so much that I booked around again. This course is 85 miles form my house. I play mostly in the San Antonio area and I rate this course as one of my favorites. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The course is in great shape. The carts are gas and in good condition.
Best Value In The Hill Country
A real gem in the Hill Country. Kingsland is kind of an out of the way place so you will not just stumble onto the course.
The course is well laid out and maintained. Visually it looks to be easy but is sneaky difficult. Fast greens, fast fairways and short rough. Enough water hazards to get your attention. Only negative on one hole is the water extends several yards toward the fairway from the red stakes and for a firs time play can get you.
Good value
This course is nice to play and in good condition. It is a good value
Initial play
An enjoyable outing for my wife and I
Both enjoyed it very much
Obviously money has been put into this rural course.
Very nice club house etc, people very friendly, and the situation and very nice views made this an enjoyable outing.
Course is in excellent condition
Unbelievably well maintained
Course conditions well exceed expectations. Well worth the drive to Kingsland. Great restaurant also.
Well Worth the Drive
Located near Lake LBJ and in Texas Hill Country Lighthouse is a very nice course. It is somewhat challenging and an interesting layout. The course was in good condition and will provide a good round for all levels of players. It has a grill but was closed on Mondays the day we played.
Hidden Gem
We traveled with another couple to Hill Country to visit wineries and golf. I found us a great deal on Golfnow, but had my doubts. Sometimes, you get what you pay for. I read the reviews before booking it and decided it was worth a chance. We were happily surprised at the good condition of the course. The surrounding scenery was nice, of course the wildflowers were in bloom. Most of the holes on the back 9 were straight but the greens were challenging. I am not a great putter but no one in our group could get a good read. Staff was very friendly. I would love to play here again.
Great value!
Nice little Hill Country track. Recent improvements are noticeable. A real good value for when it's your time to host.
Awesome greens
The greens are some of the best around. Roll true and lots of undulations make them truly exceptional. Layout provides for lots of choices in club selection. The 6th hole is a short par 5 which looks fairly simple from the tee but you 2nd shot calls for much thought due to the rock croppings down the right side and around the green .
Great hole!
Great greens, granite outcroppings
My first time at this course was playing in a tournament and the former head professional was in my foursome. His knowledge of the course was shared and made it easy to play. The greens are in fantastic shape and they are the true treasure of this course. There are granite outcroppings that accent the design of this course. Holes #6 & #7 are a par 5 and par 3 respectively. Fun holes to play. The closing hole is another par 3. Don't let it fool you. It is uphill and into the wind. Plays long and requires a shaped shot. I look forward to playing this course again.
