Margaritaville Lake Resort, Lake Conroe

The course is set in the pines with lovely views and is fairly challenging. However, the killer summer of over 100 degrees for 3 months torched it. We believe they should close it, repair the dirt areas and give it a chance to regenerate before they reopen in the spring. This course has great potential and being linked to Margaritaville lends sweet credibility. All in all we recommend the corse but it has a lot of work that needs to be done.

Good course conditions based on summer heat

Course was tight but trees not dense we were able to locate shoots in woods I would assume after fall rain season course would become real nice

It Felt like I was playing in the middle of a forest...very difficult to keep the ball in play or work shots due to always hitting trees or branches along the way. The bunkers were muddy but decent. Difficulty of the course layout isn't the issue, just so many trees hanging all over the fairways from tee box to greens.

Been wanting to play here. Heard many good things from different people. Was not disappointed either. Check in was easy and friendly staff. Course was in great shape. Challenging but not to difficult. On #10, range balls can get on the fairway. Make sure to use a white ball it will help. Add a club if your questioning the shot and don't overread the break. Hope to return soon.

Course layout is great, lots of shade in this heat. Fairways were decent and half of the greens were in good shape, the other half has a lot of no grass patches, worse was hole 15 the green is almost gone , kinda sad since that hole has a great layout.

Overall great value for the money, good views and layout, but if get annoyed by green in not so good shape then go somewhere else.

Always wanted to play here. Wasn't disappointed. Friendly staff and paired with a local. Interesting views and more room than I expected. Good time and planning to return.

Beautiful Course with Great Course Design and Layout. Course is a great value. Hot dry summer has moderately effected course conditions. Some T Boxes and greens dried in places. Bermuda Grass on fringes of greens and fairways needed to be trimmed. Balls very hard to find and hitting out of the deep thick Bermuda was very difficult. Overall course is in fair to good condition.

To sum it up if I hadn’t booked the round for the wife and I using the GolfNow app I would have been irate… half the sand bunkers were just mud, the ones that had sand were compacted. The greens were dying and looked like they were painted green…rough was just weeds. Etc. The course layout itself is fun and requires your driver be dialed. At the discounted price we booked it I’m glad we played it but won’t be going back.

Great course tucked in the heart of lake Conroe. Fairways are really nice. Some of the greens had some rot but it can be expected with these crazy temperatures.

The course was a great layout, 30 years ago. The maintenance budget is obviously very low. The heat has been unbearable, and that is one issue with course conditions. But it is the little things that are holding this place back. Most of them center around staff who don't care.
