Usually a Great Course, but we went after a rain fall
Usually a Great Course, but we went after a rain fall. Apparently overnight they had 3 inches of rain. it was cart path only. The course was 80% drenched, even the middle of the farway. Makes me wonder about their drainage system. If dry, the course plays very well.
Good Value for the Money
I played at 7:30am. There was only one group ahead of us so the pace was great. I read the reviews before going to play there. I had played this course many years ago and I remembered the layout was great. All in all the experience was good. The layout remains great, there are a lot of bare spots in the course, the bunkers were not in good shape but the great majority of the course was good. Greens are not as bad as people make them sound, Yes they are not perfect but the ball rolls good and it doesn't affect play.
The course holds water so if it rains the days before I can’t see that working right. Over all a great experience for what I paid, the staff great, the facilities great, I saw a lot of workers trying to make the course better so I hope they will pick the course up to what it once was since it was awesome. I will visit them again!!
Fun course
I’ve always liked the design of this course going back to when it was La Toretta. It had rained a lot right before we played so it was CPO & the range was closed because they were going to have a triathlon there later in the week, which was annoying. The cart paths need some work, but overall I like the course
Greens on Bad Condition
I did love the layout of the course, but the greens are in bad shape with multiple types of grass. Also if you have heavy rain the day before do not play here
The tee boxes, and fairways were in very good shape. The ball sat up nicely so you could get the club on the ball nicely. I will say there were some bare spots off the fairways. The rough was high but manageable. The greens are changing to winter grass but still rollled true.
Very friendly check in staff
Was very impressed with golf pro who checked me in.
Great time in Margaritaville
Enjoyed this round a lot! Greens aren’t great, a lot of crab grass on some of them. Other than that the lay out is fun and challenging and the staff was extremely kind and helpful. I’ll definitely come back and play again!
Very Friendly and accommodating
The course pro was awesome. He let me skip a large group and had me tee off on the second hole. The course itself is in great shape and challenging for anyone to play. Because the course was in a neighborhood you really had to know where you were going from tee to tee. Also the greens were not in the best shape. There was no true roles but it wasn't bad enough to dampen the fun time I had with this course. If I am back in the Houston area again I will play this course and bring anyone with me that wants to have a great time.
Very disappointing
I have played this course many times over the years.
This time, it was not worth the 80-mile trip.
> the tee boxes and fairways need irrigation.
> the greens are being taken over by crabgrass. Even if greens are shaved, putts bounce every which way.
> we played the front nine in about two hours, but then were forced to wait on almost every shot during a three-hour back nine.
> the jugs of water that were sparsely provided ran dry on a very hot Houston day. There was NO beverage cart service.
> Two of my playing partners were forced to quit after 12 holes.
Greens need work, rough is deep.
Great staff in the clubhouse. Easy check-in and brief chat. As a twosome we tee'd off at 7:30am and the course fairways are in pretty good shape. The first and only cut of rough was deep enough to bury you ball completely which made it sometimes challenging to find an errant shot. When we got to the first green I was disappointed to see that there was an invasive type of weed/grass growing within the putting green surface.
This made the greens basically unplayable as the ball wood bounce along the way to the hole and adjustment for slope on speed was inconsistent. We never saw the beverage cart the entire round even though we were told at the turn that someone would be on the course. On the back nine we came upon a 6-some on number 11. I guess they started on number 10 since we were the first group of the day. Thankfully they were courteous enough to let us play through. I drove up from Houston approximately 58 miles one way. If iI had known the condition of the greens I would not have booked a tee time. Some of the lakes have massive algae growth and smelt pretty bad.. We probably won't go back until the greens are weeded out. I have played here before when the greens were in great shape and would recommend but was disappointed this time. My partner made the comment that "the course has a lot of potential if only someone would manicure and maintain it properly.
Very disappointing.
I have played this course many time when conditions were more than acceptable. But this time, I found that:
a) the greens are being taken over by crabgrass and putts bounce all over the place.
b) fairways and tee boxes could use watering.
c) the back nine took almost three hours to play and we did not see a single marshal who might help.
d) even though the day was Texas-summer hot and humid, the on-course water stations ran dry and there was no beverage cart service.
Thank you so much for your thorough feedback; we have made many recent upgrades to the golf course including a new fleet of golf carts, a renovated Clubhouse, extensive repairs to the cart paths and repairs to the bunkers; much work remains but we are working ward to improve the golfing experience and so feedback like yours is very helpful in gauging our progress.
Fins Up!

Nice track, long rough, ok greens
The track here has plenty of length and several nice holes you'll remember. The rough was long which hid balls off fairway. Fairway Grass was green and greens ok but have weed grass growing in them but was cut. Rolled ok. I bought a deal and would definitely play again.
Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts with us, and know that your feedback is very helpful in shaping our future.
