1st time playing course was in pretty good shape. Will do it again and regular if I can get it for around 30 would not pay 40 or more as stated shape not bad but not great.
Mark the golfer Fox
Had great time.Chad the pro is a great guy.Makes signing in a great experience.
Conditions
I have played this course 3 times in the last 6 months. Each time I’ve given them 2 months to improve course conditions before I returned. Each time I was disappointed with 0 improvement. I may wait 3 months this time, or I may just call around to see if any friends might have played before I go, and see what they say.
It’s a shame because years ago this was a very nice course to play. My guess is the latest owners are boaters and not golfers, and would rather put there money in the marina, than the course. About 5 million investment is needed to restore it to how it used to be, and green fee revenue alone will never get it done. Wasted potential is all I see.
Good value for money
Greens were in very good shape, it’s clear that the new management has invested in the course. Bunkers could use some work.
Greens Much Improved
I've played this course about a dozen times over the last 3 years. The greens are dramatically better than past visits. Medium speed and no loner any big bare spots. Cart paths have been addressed as well. Only complaint now is the bunkers. Sand is inconsistent and many looked like they have not been raked in forever.
Fun round with friends
It’s always nice to play golf at Margaritaville on Lake Conroe. The layout presents plenty of challenges. It’s fun and affordable. We’ll be back soon.
Cart girl scam
Course in normal winter conditions. Bunkers still hard as a rock and not raked. Cart girl gave me a Powerade & snickers bar. Said it was $7.50 so I gave her a $20. She said she didn’t have change so I told her that’s ok bring it by next time you come round. The next time she came around she drove past me when I was hitting to the green that was the last time I saw her. Guess she thought $13.50 was her tip. First time I’ve seen this cart girl but I’ll be talking to her if I see her again she owes me a couple drinks.
Very enjoyable round. Laid back feel.
Great layout. Greens are always good. Enjoy the attitude there. We came from cypress. Would make the drive again.
Wet winter conditions
Staff always nice, course is wet and winter conditions are the same as 80% of the public courses in SE Texas this time of year. Front 9 still the teeth of the course. Back 9 opens up for a more relaxed finish. Bunkers were hard except where someone walked or dug their feet in and didn’t rake. Not fun to get out of. Like chipping off hard pan and trying to get the ball to check, not fun. Other wise pace of play was a non issue and limited to how long it took to hole out. No one to wait on and no one pushing us. Usually happens when playing on a 39 degree clear day.
Not what was expected
Purse needs serious maintenance. Overpriced for what you get. Very good layout and could be a great course with a lot of TLC
19th hole is way overpriced also. No one in the place after a round but about 12 carts parked under a tree with the boys enjoying a beverage on their own
Nice course
Based on past reviews i was a bit nervous. However the greens were in great shape for time of year. Fairways were in good shape as well. I had a 7:30 tee time so I was first one out so pace of play was no issue for me
Usually a Great Course, but we went after a rain fall
Usually a Great Course, but we went after a rain fall. Apparently overnight they had 3 inches of rain. it was cart path only. The course was 80% drenched, even the middle of the farway. Makes me wonder about their drainage system. If dry, the course plays very well.
Thank you so much for your thorough feedback; our reputation has increased significantly from our guest as we feel our product is in much better shape than perhaps your previous visits; much work remains but we are working hard to improve the golfing experience and so feedback like yours is very helpful in gauging our progress.
