Sonesta Bee Cave

About Sonesta Bee Cave
The Sonesta Bee Cave is located 20 minutes west off Austin off Highway 71 in the Hill Country Galleria, home to a collection of shops, bars and restaurants. There is no golf course onsite but there is shuttle service to the nearby Lakeway golf courses, including public Falconhead Golf Club, and the hotel does have some limited access to the private courses at the Clubs of Lakeway. The Sonesta Bee Cave features a large, outdoor courtyard pool, 10,000 square feet of meeting space and a 5,300 square foot ballroom. Lake Travis is minutes away where a marina can be accessed, and world-famous Hamilton Pool is also a short drive away. A highlight of the Sonesta Bee Cave is not only the galleria shops and restaurants but the hotel's own rooftop Meridian 98, which features cocktails and specialty plates in a lively setting that hosts live music.Facts

management disgrace
The games the management is playing here is almost robbery. Setting cut rate 18 hole prices after 2:00 knowing there's little chance getting a round in. Why? First place didn't have enough carts to start on time. Second, the Marshalls cart was sitting at the club house and strongly needed to be out on the course doing what a Marshal is supposed to do.. Finally, there may have been a need in the morning for cart path only but there was NO golf courtesy reason to have it continue all day. I play over 150 rounds a year and assist a course grounds keeper, the course was dry enough to allow carts. The 3 people I started with quit after 9 holes due to these ridiculous management decisions.
Suggest you start running a course for the golfers rather than just your selfish self. Seriously, talk it over.
Good Challenge
Have to be good off the tee at this course, and also adds a bit off strategy when approaching most of the greens. Only a few holes are quirky, but overall good track.
Would Play Again But
Nice course, good layout except cart paths are a long way from tees and greens requiring a lot of walking even when you're playing well and hitting a lot of fairways and greens. My wife who has some minor physical limitations was not able to finish all 18 holes. The staff was wonderful. Excellent practice facilities although they are out of the way from the course. No rangers in sight. Had to wait on every shot and the round was over 4.5 hours.
Great Hidden Gem
Super great course. The conditions of each golf hole, the hospitality of the staff, and the challenge of each hole contributed to an amazing experience. Very highly recommend!
I played 3 times in Texas while on vacation and found Falconhead golf club the best of 3 golf courses.
Overpriced and beyond slow…
The staff is incredibly unfriendly, the starter in particular. He was an angry older man who seemed like he didn’t want to be there; the pace of play was atrocious, 5 1/2 hours for 18 holes—several times asked the marshal to speak to the group in front of us, who was a full hole and a half behind the group in front of them. They never did anything to encourage them to speed up. $100 around, I think not. I used to recommend this course and play it quite often.
Excellent course. Little pricey
This is a great course! Layout is challenging from various tees. It’s mostly in good condition aside from some minor patchy areas on a few greens. It’s a little pricey for my budget at $90, but it’s enjoyable and the pace of play was good. The pro shop has a tiny bar attached that serves terrible breakfast tacos without salsa so don’t stay for the food. Otherwise a good place overall. 👍🏼
Great course with hill country views
Staff is friendly, little mix up with carts and tee times in the beginning but we got it sorted out.
Hole 1 has views of the new tall buildings in downtown, absolutely gorgeous. Now that it’s not 200 degrees outside I’ll be back soon!
Round at Falconhead
Dry time of year in TX, and most public courses are a bit dry understandably. It was about 105 when I played, and very crispy. Water refill areas about every other hole were very nice. Full, and nice and cold. Greens had some sand on them to prepare for fall. I'm sure in another week or two the course will be nice and green, and in great condition. I've played in the spring and fall, and one of my favorite courses in Austin.
Worst course in Austin
I have tried to like you all. Jamming people on to the course with zero regard to pace of play and then charging $100+ is a golf crime. I highly recommend avoiding this place at all times.. unless you want a 5.5 hour round.
