Wonderful Experience!
We had a great time playing the Cliffs!
First off, it is in a very peaceful location, right off Possum Kingdom. A good sized driving range, and large putting green.
Carts did not have GPS, but they were a little faster than normal. The course also provides you with a cooler to ride as well.
I really enjoyed the layout of the course. Par 71, plays 6800 from the back tees. The course is challenging, especially when the wind blows like it did. Most holes will feature some sort of ravine or drop off that you must avoid, and several holes where your approach has to carry, with no area to run it up.
Holes 8 and 9 are alone the cliff side of the Lake, and offer really unique views. 8 is a par 5 with a "horseshoe" design. You start with an abbreviated tee shot, and a second that must carry a ravine. Third shot cannot miss right. 9 played 200 to the back, with a stiff wind in your face. On the back nine, there are several great holes, highlighted by the last par 3. It played 190, but with a 100 foot drop off. Oh and the wind was straight in your face.
Overall it's a great course. I enjoyed that there really weren't any throw-away holes, as every one offered a challenge. You will earn a good score as there aren't many easy holes.
I knocked them on conditions as the course was bare at some places, but otherwise the conditions were very good. The bent grass greens were rock hard, but they were slow. However I found it difficult to spin back any wedges.
In all I will definitely play this course again. Great course for a $45 twilight fee, in a picturesque setting. If you want a relaxing round, that challenges your game, head out to PK.
