A Nice Sunday Walk

Port Ludlow is a good test of golf with many interesting holes and tough uphill climbs on both #9 and #18 back to the clubhouse. Save yourself for the tough finishing hole: tee shot must carry, uphill all the way, half-blind approach shot. Most greens are well protected by bunkers, but soft and very true to putt with a good amount of slope on most. Another feature I like is that many of the tees are elevated down to the fairway. There is water but if you're careful you can avoid most water problems.

30 years later

Last minute great deal through discount green fee site. Used to play the course 30 years ago but when the exchange was more favorable to us Canadians. Trees have matured and it was a pleasure to play and remember holes and layout again. Played on a Fri., we finished the front 9 in under 2 and hrs.
Unfortunately, the back 9 slowed down to 2 3/4hr. The course had received a summer rainfall for the last 2 days and the course was quite soft. balls were plugging in the fairway. We will return as there are some great green fee deals available on the discount golf sites.
It would be nice for the pro shop to inform the golfers whether you are starting on the Tide or Timber course

Great course

This is my first time at this course and though I'm fairly new at golf I loved it. It was challenging but fun. We were paired up with someone but she was great. The Marshall checked regularly to see if we needed anything and the snack gal came often. The Marshall even went and found my lost club. Great course! Definitely recommend it and will go again.

Very friendly course and Staff

From the valet cart drop at our car to the willingness of the staff to be flexible with our unlimited golfing rounds, it was a great 36 holes at Port Ludlow. It played easier than it looked, but I don't mind low scores. Lots of slope, but the greens played well.

Excellent Round of Golf

I played Port Ludlow for the first time on 7/6/14 and really enjoyed the round. I had never played the course before and like many reviews have stated it's a terrible beauty. The surroundings are impeccable, with great views and the Timber course in particular is carved into the natural surroundings. Really a beautiful design you don't see much in the Seattle area where houses tend to line the fairways. The course was in fine shape, though the greens were a little bumpy...maybe they need to change the pin positions more often? The course really tested me and was intimidating in a few spots as a first timer. It seemed like every whole was some sort of dog-leg, and I don't recall many straight, wide-open bomber wholes. My score was pretty high, and I lost a few balls.

The really unbelievable part was that I teed off around 7:30 as a single, and never saw another player until the end of the round with another single in a cart caught up to me. I walked the course, and apart from the hill up to the clubhouse, didn't find it challenging to walk. I couldn't believe I had the hole place to myself on a perfect Sunday in July. I was able to play extra practice shots and really take my time. I will definitely play Port Ludlow again when I'm in the area.

Sunny Ludlow

Perfect day for golf. Very scenic course. #4 is the #1 handicap hole as a par 5. Not long, but play it as a 3 shot approach because of creek in front of elevated green. Par is like a birdie on this hole. Had to pay attention to the 8-10 knot breeze that is influenced by the trees. Incredible location.

Since when do we let more than a foursome in 2 carts.

Played in a threesome and paid for 18 holes. There was a lot of debris on the greens that made putting difficult. On the 7th, 8th and 9th holes there was a 5 some of young people in 2 carts scrambling all over the course, very slow. They apparently quit on the 9th as we moved to the second 9 they were nowhere in sight. Teed off on the 10th and the rain started. We backtracked to the clubhouse for a bite to eat and decided to give it up for the day.

Great course at a great value. Good mixture of swing away holes and holes that require a good shot placement. Would play this course every day.

Beautiful Course

Was a good round with plenty of challenges. Greens seemed extra firm and slow for the round, finally got the hang of it on 17/18. Looking forward to coming back.

pt ludlow

Very nice layout and in pretty good condition. A high handicapper should bring plenty of balls for if you hit it off the fairway the rough is tall and lush. My only complaint is all facilities were closed when I finished at 5:10 and I could have used a beer.

One Suggestion

We wish that there would be information on whether the price quoted includes a cart or not before you book the tee time. And how much. I find $16 per person for a cart a little extreme….but maybe I am out of touch with reality.

Port Ludlow is still great

I always loved playing Port Ludlow, even though I respect and give Gold Mountain the #1 spot for Kitsap County. It is very well kept up, Tide and Timber are both great courses, and you get the best of both worlds because Tide is a scenic course but has some houses on numerous holes. Timber is what the name says it is, back in the forest where you can see bear poo and animals such as Foxes, Racoons, Bob Cats, etc.. It is still a very wonderful golf course and it deserves credit!
