The Grand Geneva Resort & Spa is a sprawling 1,300-acre, AAA Four Diamond property, home to 355 rooms and 29 new villas. It's a four-season destination with the Mountain Top ski and snowboard facility and the 225-room Timber Ridge Lodge & Waterpark, an indoor-outdoor waterpark. Sandwiched between Milwaukee and Chicago, Grand Geneva invites city slickers to enjoy the laid-back lake life for a while. It started out as the Lake Geneva Playboy Club, part of Hugh Hefner’s empire. That chapter closed in 1981. Eventually, the property rebranded as a luxury golf resort in 1994 with fine dining and conference facilities for corporate clients. The Highlands and The Brute roll over hills and water hazards, creating distinct theaters for challenging and memorable golf. Greens and bunkers...
Beautiful course! Greens were a bit of a challenge....you'll 3 putt all day if not careful! Greens generally very well protected by massive bunkers. The bunkers were well maintained, I only ended up in 2 bunkers all day...but they're as big or bigger than the greens. Fun course pretty open off the tees on most holes but several very narrow...the tempted you to go for some shots risk reward. I hot 6 strokes over my handicap due to those nasty Greens!
Pro shop great with a dated locker room. Food was decent but way overpriced...bring food/snacks. Staff at the 19th were friendly but I think the gal was over her head due to someone calling out sick.
Range facility very nice as well!

Great experience
We played this course during twilight on a Sunday which made it a great value. We heard that this was a very difficult course but if you play the right tee boxes, its actually way more fun than difficult. Some very interesting holes that allow you to go for the green on a par 4, and solid par 5's that give you the opportunity to get home in 2 too. We'll be back for sure.
This place sucks compared to Geneva National
This place sucks. Here’s why:
Chicago d-bag coked out bachelors partys everywhere.
Non stop yelling and screaming hooting and hollering by the Chicago d-bags.
Bar at the course is awful, way too small and closed at 6 on a Friday.
There is a refreshment station after 6 & 10. Unfortunately this closes by 4 PM on a busy Friday. That was actually a relief after the $18 single transfusions. Expect to see the cart girl twice max during your round.
Tee boxes and greens suck. The coke head Chicago scramble parties rip both of them up and they obviously don’t fix ball marks. I’m

As advertised.
It is exactly as advertised. A few of the holes were testers but overall it was all laid out in front of you.
Better than I remember
Played here about 15 years ago and liked it. After this latest round I loved it. The entire experience is much improved. The course was lush… nice fairways, semi-tough rough and pretty good greens. The new practice area is first rate and the staff is top notch. The routing, elevation changes and impressive vistas made for a very good day of golf. Would definitely play again.
Great Challenge
The course is called the Brute and that’s apt. Great views, incredible layout and challenging greens the size of some zip codes. All about placement here, the elevation changes make most shots into the green a good challenge. Course was in great shape, cannot recommend enough.
