Highlands at Grand Geneva Resort & Spa

About
Grand Geneva Resort & Spa boasts two championship golf courses. The Brute Course is a formidable test while the Highlands Course presents a more player-friendly layout though it still has plenty of challenges in store. Jack Nicklaus and Pete Dye teamed up to design the Highlands. It is a traditional links-layout that is tumbles across glacier-carved hills and valleys. It perfectly mimics the feel of courses of the British Isles especially on the undulating greens that are flanked with bunkers. The course is playable for all skill levels though low handicappers looking for a challenge might want to tackle the Brute. The resort has garnered a popular following amongst both locals and visitors. Conde Nast Traveler ranked it in the top ten northern US golf resorts and that is just one of the many accolades Grand Geneva Resort & Spa has received.

five star course for public player.
worth one hour drive to play first time. wish next season can play the Brute.
The landscape was gorgeous
It's a beautiful course with lots of gullies and hills that make it challenging.
Beautiful Course!
To golf in 70 degree weather in SE Wisconsin in November is almost unheard of. We had the pleasure of golfing in this, and chose the Highlands at Lake Geneva and were very happy with our decision. The course was still in great shape. We had to work with the falling leaves, so finding balls was challenging on some holes, but the way the course was maintained all year still showed at this time of year. If you are in the area and get the chance, I would definitely recommend this course!
Love me the Highlands
As always playing the highlands is a treat. The course was in great shape for November. The greens were really moving.
I am a bigger fan of the Highlands then the Brute at Grand Geneva. The Highlands I believe is a much better layout and really requires you to think on a lot of shots. Especially holes 8-11. Those I really can make or break your round. #9 is by far the hardest par 4 in southern Wisconsin. 430 Par 4 with an impossibly landing area with OB on the left and a cart path on the right that send your ball in to the OB, then straight up hill to a green with a false front. A 5 is a great score.
Highlands has alot of birdie holes and or with a bad drive they a double bogey holes so make sure your drive is on point.
My only complaints is there is never any rangers so play can be slow. Also the driving range is huge and yet they have you hitting off of mats make no sense.
All in all I enjoy this place go play it for sure.
Great conditions, great value for the money, beautiful conditions and friendly staff. Need to see the beverage girl more than once per 9.
Very enjoyable round
I had a lot of fun. Played great on the front nine but the back nine got a little backed up. Still had fun. The course conditions were excellent. Will be back to play again
Uneven tee boxes
This course is a fun challenge and in greatl shape. My only complaint is that the tee boxes (my group played from the red tees) are not level and it was often difficult to find a flat stance.
Slow Pace Ruined our outing
My group and I were very excited to play because we had heard great things, but that was not the case. The pace of play was SO slow due to 4 horrid golfers in front of us. It ruined our day. They would hit 3-4 balls each and held us up along with everyone around us to the point where we were able to replay a par 3. We will not be returning. Even after calling club house and letting them know (nobody came out), nothing was done. It was absurd.
Always Fun to Play
This is the old Briarpatch by Pete Dye and Jack Nicholas.
The redesigned has made it more playable and enjoyable. Great condition and fun to play.
Great conditions, a lot of variety
This course is a lot of fun to play, has excellent practice facilities and is in great condition. I have paid much more for a lot less. This is a great value, I highly recommend it.
Hello, thank you for reviewing the course. We apologize for the delay of play during your round. Please know that this is by no means the standard we strive to achieve. With an uncharacteristically full day, we work hard to accommodate everyone who visits our course and allow our guest the chance to complete their rounds. With that in mind, we are working to best control pace and allow everyone to finish in a reasonable amount of time. We will continue to look for ways to improve by using your comments as guidance. Thank you for playing Highlands at Grand Geneva Resort & Spa. We hope to see you again soon.
