About Grand Geneva Resort & Spa
The Grand Geneva Resort & Spa is a sprawling 1,300-acre, AAA Four Diamond property, home to 355 rooms and 29 new villas. It's a four-season destination with the Mountain Top ski and snowboard facility and the 225-room Timber Ridge Lodge & Waterpark, an indoor-outdoor waterpark. Sandwiched between Milwaukee and Chicago, Grand Geneva invites city slickers to enjoy the laid-back lake life for a while. It started out as the Lake Geneva Playboy Club, part of Hugh Hefner’s empire. That chapter closed in 1981. Eventually, the property rebranded as a luxury golf resort in 1994 with fine dining and conference facilities for corporate clients. The Highlands and The Brute roll over hills and water hazards, creating distinct theaters for challenging and memorable golf. The WELL Spa + Salon, located in a separate fitness building, offers more than 65 treatments and services.Facts

Brute is challening, but fair and enjoyable
They say this is the toughest golf course in the Midwest, and that might be true from the tips, but play the proper tees and it's most playable. It's also beautiful, excellently conditioned and most interesting with no two holes alike. Plenty of elevation change, water hazards and big bunkers add to experience. Finishing stretch of 16, 17 and 18 are particularly strong, and don't forget to check out the sculpture off the 16th green.
this course has great features
Great golfing experience at a great price good pro shop deals
Very good course, but one strange flaw
Found this course to be nicely designed and in excellent overall condition. Really enjoyed a couple of the excellent short par 4's .Hilly and somewhat wooded around the edges of the course gave it a nice feel. The course is well marked and the electric carts with GPS is a great feature. My only real issue with the course is the bizarre 16th hole - a road cuts right through the fairway about 210 - 240 yards from the tee. Trees line the left side, so you can't even see the cars coming. Two cars passed by as we stood on the tee - very strange for a course this nice. Only other small complaint is that some tee boxes need to be leveled off. With those exceptions, the overall experience was very good. Thanks to Golfnow for the good deal, otherwise it would be too expensive to play here.
The Brute is always Brutal!
The course was very scenic and in great shape, the greens have been aerated, which is to be expected this time of year. Always a pleasure to play at Grand Geneva!
Great course, one of the best in the area!
This is a beautiful course with stunning views and was in great condition. The one exception would be the greens since they were recently aerated, but that is understandable. The course was also very challenging, with well placed hazards. Keep your tee shots in the fairway or it could be a long day.
What a beautiful course!
First time golfing this course. What a beautiful course. Although the greens had been aerated, it was still a great experience golfing this course and what a great price!
Staff and price were great
Only drawback was the rough was way to high and made the pace of play slower. People looking for their balls and having a difficult time hitting out of it. This is a resort course you want your guests to enjoy it, not get frustrated by it.
Little bit of everything
First time golfing at this course. Enjoyed the variety of holes that it offered and the amenities were a plus. The GPS the carts included was a big bonus. The course is challenging but fair. The greens made the course difficult; they were fast and hard to read but receptive to shots from the fairway. Golfnow rate made the course affordable and a good value.
fun course not long but challenging be accurate
very beautiful course not super long but need to be accurate, great greens fast, true
Great Price. Great views
While the price was right and the views were very nice the greens seemed bumpy and the speeds were different from one green to the next. It was very challenging. The sand traps are huge.
Beautiful Course
The brute course is no joke, quite challenging, with wicked quick greens, many bunkers and water that come into play often. The views around the holes and tee boxes are scenic and serene. It's an experience unlike any other. I would definitely go back. I am a 5 handi, and managed to shoot to that handicap, although it was a challenge.
Challenging, yet fun.
Course was in excellent condition. Definitely challenging. Lots of sand and a lot of water for a midwest course.
Great Features
Great Course & Beautiful setup great greens well maintained
Wonderful experience!
The experience and facilities at Grand Geneva are top notch!
It's always a pleasure to play the Highlands with its tough greens and elevation changes that are always challenging. The course was in very nice condition and maintained as always and I've never had a bad experience here! Highly recommend!!
The Brute never disappoints
I love playing here and love using Golfnow to play there, I'm too cheap otherwise. It's a great course, the greens were slow but were in great shape, and tee to green the course is amazing. A must play.
Great Course - Great Staff -Great Experience
I always enjoy playing this course. Beautifully maintained and the staff makes the experience so enjoyable.
Well kept, challenging course.
I love the Highlands! About 1000 yards shorter than the resorts other Course The Brute, but a well kept thinking man's course.
One of the top courses in the State
It had been a number of years since we played here, and the return was maked by nostalgia and admiration that not much has changed. It is a beautiful and hilly layout with all the challenges of a championship course. Given the size of the greens, hitting them in regulation is only half the battle.
Undulating, pastoral, picturesque, and well maintained.
If you like a combination of elevated tees and greens set back in a rural setting, the Brute is a must. The greens are quite large and played soft. Very well maintained course.
the course and staff were top shelf, A-1
The course and staff were great, HOWEVER, the pace of play left us with a bitter taste about course management. We waited on EVERY hole for 4 clowns who had NO golf etiquette, and even when we informed the ranger, he said," well it's a tough course, and they are trying". But they still did not let us play through. I've played many other courses and the rate of play is usually 4:15 minutes, not over 5 hrs. Sorry, just being honest.
