The Golf Courses of Lawsonia

About The Golf Courses of Lawsonia
The Golf Courses of Lawsonia in Green Lake is one of Wisconsin’s greatest golf treasures. The Links is a classic inland links of blind shots, mounding and incredible hilly topography to challenge and engage the best of players. The newer Woodlands course delivers a contrasting viewpoint with tons of trees and more elevation changes. It’s a high-caliber 1-2 punch. Lawsonia offers three homes for onsite accommodations: The Moreau House with a single and double suite; the five-bedroom Birches House and the three-bedroom Dawson House. Langford’s Pub is located inside the clubhouse, featuring a Friday Fish Fry and Saturday Prime Rib specials.Facts

I live 100 miles away and make the trip with a smile on my face all the way. Love it!!!
Conditions are Ahead of Schedule
My son & I played the Woodlands on April 4th. We'd played the Links several times and this was our first round at the Woodlands. Expectations were low as it's early season and the rate from GolfNow was fantastic. We couldn't have been more please with the conditions as the greens rolled true and the fairways were dry with leaves removed. The tee boxes were combined into one and the bar was closed but other than that this course is good to go.
!st time on Links Course
Have played the Woodlands several times and wanted to try The Links. A friend had told me that it looked easy, but was tremendolusly challenging. He was right. The fast undualting greens, proliferation of sand traps and berms, made for a very interesting round. The speed of the greens made it difficult to hold the greens and challenging putts. The raised greens required excellent approach shots and the traps located at the base of berms made pitching a real adventure.
Great views of Green Lake
Golfed The Woodlands course was in excellent shape, but need more sand in their numerous bunkers. A very scenic course, but greens were aerated so hard to tell about them. For $23 price was good will be back again. It could be marked for yardage better don't trust laser link that they have in carts
amazing course
This is one of the most beautiful courses you can play anywhere.
Spoiled by this course
I live pretty close to Lawsonia (less than 45 minutes) and play it as much as time allows. For the price, I don't think there is a better course in this area. People are friendly, fairways are tight, and the greens roll true. It's also extremely picturesque and has gorgeous views of Green Lake. There are elevation changes and lots challenging, but fun, holes.
This is one of those courses that I could play every day and not get sick of it.
Lawsonia Links on a cool day
After golfing Lawsonia Woodlands just a couple of weeks ago and doing very well, I was surprised how much tougher the Links course was on a cool day. The temperature was about 60 degrees when we teed off, and the greens had been aerated recently. The white tees were nearly 6500 yards. With very steep greenside bunkers, challenging greens, and numerous side hill lies, the Links was a real challenge.
Still like both courses, but I scored 11 strokes better on the Woodlands on a nice day with nice greens than I did on the Links after aeration.
The links
The course is awesome a great challenge and fun for everyone to play
Chamber day
We had a great time playing the Woodlands course. Played many times and never get tired of it.
excellent course condition
Fun to play, but above average difficulty. Would lo e to play it again
In my top 3 Wisconsin courses
The Woodlands course at Lawsonia is drop-dead gorgeous, with wonderful hole layouts and great views of Green Lake. The greens are fast but true and overall the course was in great shape. The two notable exceptions were several of the sand traps, which could be categorized an under repair, and the aeration of the tees on the front 9. But the latter was really a timing issue, since it's a regular part of course maintenance in the fall. Still, it's one of my favorite courses in the state, and due all the accolades showered on it by Golf Digest!
Woodlands
Great shape with fast greens and scenic holes. Many doglegs out 200 plus yards.
Woodlands review
The best condition course I have played on in a long time. It is like going on an adventure, every hole is different and unique.
The Woodlands
Always love to play this course with it's diverse and scenic holes and challenging layout!
The course was awesome
The course was great and challenging
The staff was great we had car issues and we were late and they went out of there way to make sure we had a great experience
Fun and challenging
Course can be challenging and the greens tricky but what a fun day of golf !!! Course is in great shape, friendly staff and what a beautiful setting on Green Lake
Always enjoy playing the Links Course
Course is in great condition. Score card recommends which tees to play based on handicap. Elevated greens make for a tough up and down with fast and undulating putting surfaces. Not uncommon for ball to find the other side of the elevated green if not careful. Fairways forgiving but its always possible to find large fairway bunkers. Must hit the greens on the par 3's, well protected. I find this a v. challenging course from the blue tees but able to post a good score from the whites <80. Recommend playing!
Great golf course
Course is in the best shape it's been in- golfing here since mid-'70's. Forward tees are very fair, but still keep the course moderately challenging. Good course management is definitely a plus.
Lovely course
My wife & I enjoyed a great day of golf on the Woodlands course. Oceans of sand greeted us but we loved it regardless. Thanks for the fun day.
Negatives out weighed positives
I would recommend playing this course for the course itself. The course had a couple areas that needed improvements, winter kill in a couple of greens, puddles in numerous sand traps, and the occasional mud spots; all of which could be avoided if you are a decent golfer. This course is set up to make your second shot the make or break of the hole. Tee shots are not very difficult but with the elevated greens and sand protecting basically every hole on the course you need to have a good second shot to succeed on this course.
There are two reasons I would try and avoid this course. The first is the pace of play. We were playing in a two-some so we knew we were going to catch up to some groups eventually but there were two open slots in front of us(30 minutes) and we had caught up to the group in from of us by hole 3. There was no one on the course to move people along or give suggestions if we could move to an open spot so we were not at every shot. A player assistant would have really helped considering the group in front of us, who knew we were right behind them, would spend 5 minutes at times looking for a ball they were clearly not going to find. The second is the decision of their food and beverage team. We saw the beverage service for the first time on hole 6, and curious I asked what took so long, she was the only one for both courses that day. Once we got to the turn I had asked why there was only one beverage cart for both courses, and she had stated they sent one of them home because there was not enough golfers to keep both of them. I cant speak for the woodlands course but there was a group on each hole, mostly 4-somes, in front of us. When we did see staff they were very professional and friendly but when you are golfing in 80+ degree weather and no cloud coverage you don't have your golfers rely on the water jugs set on every 4 holes.
I would play the course again but they definitely need need to sure up the decisions of the food and beverage management!
