The Wilderness is the premier golf and waterpark destination in the Wisconsin Dells. The Wilderness Hotel & Golf Resort features 444 guest rooms, 40 vacation villas, 76 condos and 35 cabins. Nearby, the Wilderness on the Lake includes 108 luxury two- and three-bedrooms overlooking Lake Delton, and Glacier Canyon Lodge features 460 upscale condo units. Restaurants range from the Thirsty Buffalo Saloon and Survivor’s Bar & Grill to various grab and go options at the indoor and outdoor waterparks. Difficult Greens To Read
The course conditions are superb. The fairways and tee boxes are cut to perfection. The greens were a little subpar in that the grass was thin in some spots and dirt actually showed through. If you think you are an excellent putter, you should try this course as it will humble you in a hurry. The greens have so many undulations, it will test your greens reading ability.
Nice Little gem when short on time
Had friends up from down south. Didn't have all day to play so we decided to give the Woods short course a try.
Great decision. A beautiful little 9 hole couse with 3 par 4s so you can let your hair down and bombs away. With 6 challenging par 3s including the island par 3 with an elevated box.
Course was in great shape as well.
We played on a Saturday afternoon and was charged $20 for 9 holes and a cart!
What a deal. Would definitely do again!
Great course
This is an amazing course in great condition. I highly recommend it
Great Layout, but greens are beat
Pros :
Fun and Great course layout. Very scenic. Wide open fairways but Very guarded greens.
Cons:
Very slow play due to difficulty of approach shot/greens and lack of ranger on course to keep the party groups moving.
The Greens were tore up all around the pin from being too soft. Even 3-4 footers were like playing plinko.
Fixed 4-5 fresh ballmarks on the green every hole from careless party play in front of us.
Pace of play
The three groups ahead of us were playing a scramble and it made our round 5 hours. Called for a ranger twice with no luck
Great for kids
Great course, just long enough for young kids to play. Perfect shape, very friendly staff.
Good course, GPS needs work
Course in great shape. Pricey for my budget. GPS in cart shows distance to flags, but unreliable. Some holes GPS showed flag was 2 yards shorter than back of green, but flag was obviously in front 3rd of green. Other holes, just the opposite. Relied on personal Bushnell GPS range finder.
Greens were not good, aeration holes, on many spots we were putting on rolled mud, after 3 holes we agreed on a 2 putt rule for the day
Must try!!
Must try! One of the best public courses in Wisconsin! Great layout, incredible course conditions from tee to green. Staff was friendly and courteous, even the starter! Thoroughly enjoyed and will return to play again.
Great golf course
Love the course layout, the maintenance of the course and the challenges. Will be returning soon
