Fox Run Golf Course

I made the mistake of giving this course another chance after avoiding it for two years, solely because I was curious about the newly opened back nine. That curiosity was rewarded with one of the worst golf experiences I've ever had.

Calling the back nine a golf course is generous. It's essentially a field of prairie grass with rough outlines mowed into something vaguely resembling fairways. The layout feels like it was designed by someone who has never actually played golf. Every hole is forgettable, poorly thought out, and somehow manages to get worse as you progress.

The greens are an absolute embarrassment. Many of them have weeds growing directly in and around the putting surfaces, and prairie dog holes scattered throughout the area. Several cups were literally filled with stagnant, disgusting water. The few cups that weren't flooded had another problem: they came out of the ground with the flagstick when you pulled it. At that point, it's hard to tell whether you're playing golf or participating in some kind of low-budget parody of a golf course.

Then there's the grand finale on 18. To get to the green, you have to drive across what may be the sketchiest bridge I've ever seen on a golf property. It's nothing more than loose wooden planks slapped together and left to deteriorate. The entire structure audibly creaks, cracks, and visibly flexes under the weight of a golf cart. I honestly wouldn't be surprised if a cart ends up going straight through it.

What made the experience even worse was hearing the employee at the front desk tell a group ahead of me that the back nine was in good shape and ready to play. That's not optimism. That's pure fantasy. There is a massive difference between taking pride in your course and blatantly misrepresenting its condition. Describing this place as "good" is laughable.

This course is not rough around the edges. It's not a hidden gem. It's not a work in progress. It's a neglected disaster that should be ashamed to charge people $55 to play it.

I will never set foot on this course again. If Jacoby is full, do yourself a favor and drive somewhere else. Better yet, skip golf entirely for the day. It would be a far better use of your time and money than spending either at this dump.

Very Rude Staff, Tee boxes, greens and fairways in terrible shape, and they charge way too much. It must be some kind of tax write off because they do everything they can to get people to never come back. I will never go back and I recommend you don’t either. Terrible experience!!

Greens have gotten alot better this summer fairways can now take a divot instead of being rock hard and the course is now 18. The new back 9 is a great addition.

Course didn't appear to be mowed in 2 weeks. Fairway grass was so long you couldn't determine the fairway (other the the outline). Green Grass length was about as long as the fairway should have been. Only a 9 hole course. Not worth the time or money. Wouldn't recommend won't go back. Staff, the 1 guy was nice. Carts were slow. I could have walked faster. Also windy not the courses fault but they offer a 10 day rain check which is impractical. Needs to be 30-60 day rain check.

I've been playing golf around the US for almost 50 years. Fox Run has to be one of the worst courses I've ever played. I made my reservation on GolfNow. If I hadn't prepaid my greens fees I would have left. It was 10 on Monday morning and only had 2 cars in the parking lot. That tells you a lot. The only good thing about my round was that I had messed up and only paid for 9 holes.

There wasn't a single tee box that had enough grass to have good footing. The greens were a mess. Bare spots and unpredictable rolls were the norm. It was not possible to get a decent lie on any fairway.

This is what my fellow golfing friends call a "goat ranch "!!

And then there were the mosquitoes. I got a small bucket of balls to warm up. After 4 or 5 swings I was so inundated with a swarm of mosquitoes that I had to quit. I was hopeful that it would be better on the course. If anything it got worse. The swarm followed me to the first tee box and kept getting worse. I realize this wasn't exactly the course's fault. But most quality course's will do some spraying to at least help control mosquitoes.

There is no good reason to play this course. It will only hurt your game.

A "first time" played. Course conditions were average, but the Wyoming weather was dry this time of the year. Fairly flat terrain, small bunkers. Several challenges (one on 9th fairway and lead up to the 9th green). Ray, in the Pro Shop, was an excellent host, friendly and accommodating, a major plus. Overall, I'd play this course again, when in the Laramie area.

I go to fox run occasionally. I booked a tee time on Saturday. I was surprised to find three walkers teeing off at my tee time… As a golfer in a cart, this made no sense. I also reserve a tee time to reserve that time. I do not pay to reserve to share a tee time…

I was also flagged for an outside cooler by the female ranger which ultimately rattled me. The ironic thing is the sign on the building states “no outside drinks”. I had packed myself a lunch and was very excited to enjoy it on the course. Also ironically, almost every newer golf bag contains a cooler to store drinks which can be hid discreetly to then drink on the golf course anyways..

This interaction really ruined my experience and both were a result of the staff.

Mosquito infested course. Probably could have gotten a better score if I didn't have to fight off so many mosquitoes. They double booked a tournament at the same time as my tee time which proved to be a problem because it was shotgun. I started 30 minutes prior but the groups were all over the course. They were nice enough to allow me to play through.
