No frills but great course
Course was great. Lots of water but fairways were open and well maintained. Greens were in great shape. Only disappointments were that there were no restrooms other than two sets of portajohns and also no beverage service on course. Also need ball washers due to the amount of water on the course. Layout and staff were exceptional and we will play again.
Gated Community with golf course
Very friendly staff and very accomdating
The greens are bumpy and doesnt roll true
Good course layout. Not manicured at all.
Serenity is the reason to give it try
Course in Great shape
Very enjoyable and fast paced. Greens were slow and spotty but not terrible considering the recent freeze. Great value
Great Country Course
This is a great country course worth the drive. If you have never played a country course this is what it is... no club house, no driving range, no cart girl... just some good ol' boy golf at a very reasonable price. Its a nice track that they are doing a fine job of keeping up the maintenance.
Almost a Diamond-in-the-Rough
From a humble clubhouse beginning, this course surprised us as to its vast, sprawling fairways & almost-perfect greens. Inbetween there are many hills/valleys to test even the longest of hitters. TO IMPROVE THE PLAYABILITY, PLEASE INSTALL SEVERAL MORE WATER JUGS & CONSIDER REMOVING THE PORT-A-JOHNS IN FAVOR OF REAL BATHROOMS since the 'links'-style doesn't wind back to clubhouse after 9.
Wonderful
Wonderful day, weather, course, and people. The greens were very good, holding and rolling. The fairways in great shape. A little short on amenities, no water on the course or cart service. There is no turn. I wouldn't recommend walking.
Great track
Such a great course. Been playing here over the last 10 years or so. Such a great course. I know it is not funded like a high-end course or country club. But the conditions were pretty bad. Even if charging like $75 on a weekend.
But most tee boxes were awful. Some just sand plots. Fairways were pretty much below average all around. Some spots just terrible. Off the fairway spots were pretty bad too. Green complexes seemed to be taken care of pretty well. Some greens weren't the best. But greens way better than the rest of the course.
Great course
Challenging but invites you to dare, well maintained,
Nice course
Always enjoy playing at grand lake. Challenging course / greens. Well kept. Friendly staff.
Grand Lake was Grand!
It off the beaten path at the end of a gated community. There is no clubhouse per se, just a place to pay and get your cart. No snack bar, no drinks to purchase. Take food and drinks when you play this course. Also no practice area …..
But once you reach the first tee box you feel like you’re in the middle of the Hill Country. These 18 holes will test every shot that you have in your bag. Hills and valleys, woods on each side of the fairways, never a level stance except on the tee boxes and many of the greens. Enjoyable for all handicap players. One of the nicer courses I’ve played around Houston.
If they only had cart girls ….
