About
Stevens is another Dallas tradition that dates back to the 1920s–a tight course with unbelievably small greens and wild doglegged holes that laugh at drivers. Creeks and streams dot the landscape, and those tiny greens are fast.
No. 6 is listed as the most difficult hole, rolling 416 yards with out-of-bounds on the right. The approach must carry a swale and slide through a chute of trees to the table-top green. Hole 8 has some character at only 272 yards, with the creek cutting across the fairway and the old-ass trees overhanging and squeezing the fairway.
The ender is impossible to shorten because there’s no way to carry the giant trees and cut the dogleg. That leaves you with a weak-minded long iron that must be played perfectly. Get the right club on your approach because the green has two levels.
Other notes: Arthur Davis redesigned this course in 1983.
Getting there : From I-30 east, take the Hampton exit and go south. Turn left on Colorado, then turn right on N. Montclair Ave.
