Hogan Park Golf Course - Quail

About
Hogan Park has been the long-time Midland institution for the Tall City layman, since it was the only public facility in town until Nueva Vista recently opened their daily-fee course on the west side. This facility originally opened in 1959, but upgraded with 9-hole additions in 1983, and again in 1998, making 36 holes available to Midland's hacks.
The two courses are surprisingly different considering the terrain in this part of the world. The old course (Quail) is more of a flat, traditional layout with narrow fairways and large, undulating greens. The trees that were planted back in the 1950s have grown up, providing some character to the otherwise flat, desert landscape. The toughest hole on this track is the 445-yard, par 4 No. 4, which plays uphill through a chute of trees, then doglegs right into a multi-tiered green protected by water. Multi-tiered is an understatement since there is a four-foot difference between the top and bottom levels.

Horrible Customer Service
Tee time policies a joke at this course, no common sense applied.
Not all the pro shop guys narrow sighted but a few of them need customer service training.
Because of the lack of courses in Midland/Odessa staffing and people that are attentive very much needed.
Example impossible online tee time system non efficient. Calling in trying to work with someone on phone getting on, forget about it.
Now the challenge, trying to get on as single with pro shop personnel.
Could not get me on as I observed twosome and threesoms teeing off. Kept my mouth shot and got on waiting list.
Spent about an hour on range waiting for my name to be called, notta.
Went to putting green waiting a little longer. Nobody teeing off Qual for 20 minutes. Continue watching 2 an 3 slmes teeing off Roadrunner.
Went in pro shop asked why there not filling groups up 4 somes with singles waiting to get on?
The usual dumb founded look and attitude.
Wake up Hogan, golf is in high demand. This city doesn't offer much recreation. Don't make it any more difficult, thanks.
Great improvement
Course is in very good shape. Fairways are green with very few bare spots. Greens are in good shape and not to hard. They hold approach shots and putt very nicely. The biggest improvement is the addition of cart paths throughout the course. It makes it look better and much easier to get around.
So-so
Played this course for the first time. Pace of play was fine, but only because the course is mediocre. Would play again but would prefer to try something else in the area if back around.
