Identity Crisis
If you’re looking to “value add” a course to the rotation, this is the course.
Carts: Ancient gas carts. Ours died on the first hole. 😂
Staff: Friendly
Amenities: Just okay. Bring your own water. You drive cart to your vehicle. No bag drop off.
Tee Boxes: Level, but could be in better shape.
Greens: In really good shape. Soft, with very little spin. Good slope changes to make you think on how to play approach. Tough to read at times.
Fairways: Most are solid with very good grass. Not a dust bowl. Pine straw in rough areas. A couple fairways need work, but you can tell they are actively managing them. Golfers should be kinder to this course and fix their own divots. **Hole 5 is in disrepair right now and is a par 3 instead of a par 4**
Overall: Not bad. If you stay in the fairway, it’s a fun, shorter course. Offers enough elevation changes to make approach shots interesting. Water a factor on some holes. I would play again. Would be a fun fall/early winter course. Back 9 feels different from front.
**It has been a hot summer with very little rainfall, yet they’ve managed to still keep the fairways and greens soft**
Good not great
The greens on the front nine need work but on the back nine we saw improvement. This course could be nice with more money to improve everything
Nice course in good shape
Course in good shape. Paid $65 and thought it was a little high but fair. Tee boxes and greens in good shape. I like the course and would play there again.
Don’t waste your time
I’ve never been to a more trashy course in my life. The greens are always covered in dirt, the golf carts literally SHAKE while driving them. Customer service is on the floor (I don’t know why I would expect anything less considering it’s located in one of the worst/most dangerous parts of town). The gold shop is never restocked. The food is horrible. If you try to go to the pool in the summer, you get completely over run by pretentious children who think they own the pool because “they’re daddy golfs there”. I wouldn’t recommend this course to my worst enemy ESPECIALLY if you’re from out of town!!! Do yourself a favor and check out magnolia grove, azalea city, or even springhill. You would much rather enjoy ANYWHERE other than this horrid establishment! I’d rather golf in my back yard.

Great Track
Love the layout, and the greens are in really good shape. They had number 5 playing as a par 3. They should leave it like that, the usual hole doesn’t make sense with the design. Staff is always very friendly, and the gentleman in the bar/food area is always friendly when we play Heron Lakes. The only negative is we made the turn and a 4some jumped right in front of us. I did hear that they had some kind of tournament the next day and were practicing. I get it just a very slow back 9.
Great Time
Course was in very good condition and we had a very nice day
Terrible conditions
I don’t know how they are open and charging people to play the course. It’s terrible !!! The greens, tees, the fairways, it’s terrible! And it’s not like they are overly friendly and welcoming. I just don’t know what course the other people played that gave good reviews.
