Nice course, but it's not Tunica National
Course was in decent shape. Some smaller greens, some hard tee boxes, but for the most part it was a good experience. Not busy at all, so pace was great. A good tune up for Tunica National. The scenery , 3 casinos.Would play again if the price was right. Golfnow made this a very affordable day.
Good course to play.
I enjoyed playing the course. Pick the right tee boxes for your skill level and you'll have a great round. There are plenty of tee boxes to select from. Some of the fairways are narrow but the rough is not long and helps keep pace of play going. Not a terrible penalty for missing the fairway.
It is a long drive from anywhere except Tunica, but a good rate makes it worth the drive.
There were a few things anyone playing soon needs to know.
The good : Fairways, tee boxes, rough - all in great shape. This part of the course is very well cared for and it shows. The cart guy greeted us at our vehicles with a cart and a smile, the clubhouse staff was friendly and helpful. The carts are in great shape, new, have USB plugs, and are gas powered.
Course maintenance : The greens. My guess is they were aerated early to mid-July 2016. The front 9 was mildly bumpy and slower than I prefer, but not unplayable at all. The back 9 has grown in more and had less sand/bumps. Still slower than I like, but not bad. I like fast true greens, but I still enjoyed playing the course. I intend to return in a few weeks once the greens have finished their recovery and have been rolled. I knew this before I booked because I called the clubhouse so I can't dock points because of it. I would say they should update golf now with a 'maintenance' warning, but GN should also improve a courses ability to communicate the actual conditions of maintenance.
Needs improvement :
Bunkers. This seems to be a trend in North MS to have poorly maintained bunkers. Some are ok, some are GUR (and marked) and some are just not playable with weeds growing and packed sand. I know bunker updates are one of the more costly parts of running a course, but on this course, they are needed in some areas to keep the course challenging.
It's not a bad course at all - fun to play for me. I'll be back.
Riverbend, Tunica
Played at our own pace. Not much traffic out there. Fairways were hard, but the greens were very acceptable.
Scenic beautiful course
Great course and always a great staff. Only thing that could be improved is the greens. They could be a little faster and smoother but fairways and tees are always in top shape. The course is hardly ever crowded and pace of play is good. Very scenic with lots of wildlife.
Links Review
Course was in good condition considering it is winter. The greens were rolling smooth and the fairways were nice. This is a good course to use your driver with the open links style layout. But, there are some water hazards and strategically placed bunkers.
Great Staff, course has really improved since spring
Great layout ,starts with great staff and amentities.
Nice course, good value
This was my first time here so my experience is limited, I'm sure I did not see everything there was to see. Overall condition is 4 stars in my opinion, especially for the weather we've experienced this year. I think the tees, fairways and greens were nice. I wasn't expecting it to be as nice as it was after reading other reviews from this season. I found the rate was reasonable through golf now. The practice facility was nice and the putting green was an accurate representation of the real greens.
My new favorite course
Riverbend has turned into my favorite course to play lately. Since Mallard is renovating, I had to find somewhere else to play regularly and despite the hour drive, I'll still pick Riverbend over anything closer to me. Course has been in great condition. Beautiful greens. Always some wind to deal with in the area and never too crowded. Also my favorite burger from a course as well, not as cheap priced food as some others but still worth it. Hope the course continues to keep up the awesome work. Oh, and all the staff has always been super nice as well.
