Really windy day...
The winds apparently were 30 plus during my round. Gust of over 40 mph but that and my awful score did not deter me from enjoying this beautiful course. Its always fun hitting a ball and have the wind hold in up and then drop the drive 150 yards out.
Comment on course condition
The rough was way too high for the average golfer. Even if 2 ft. off the fairway - you can't find your ball.
Need to Mow
2nd time for me playing Highlander. I enjoy the layout. However, I was disappointed in the condition of the course this time. For a muni course I thought the rough was extremely deep.. Balls just off the fairway were sometimes hard to find and the thick deep rough was very punishing to hit from. Fun track that seems to play quite a bit longer than the posted yardage in my opinion. They just need to step up the maintenance and grooming and get the mowers out there more often.
Layout change
When this course originally opened, it had tall Fescue Grass. Don't bother looking tall. Since then, the rough grass has been brought down for the average golfer, at least giving you a chance to find your ball. The back 9 had a few holes changed to accommodate new home(s) construction. It has made for the finishing holes having an odd feeling. A comfortable challenge, but not a destination course.
Closed holes
This is the second and last time I will play this course. A year ago at about the same time I played this course and was told when checking in that the 17 hole was closed but the price of the round was not reduced. This year we played the course and were not told the 13th hole was closed. We arrived at the hole which had a sign posted on the back of a cart at the tee box which instructed us to skip the 13 hole and proceed to the 14th tee. Again no reduction of fee.
Wonderfully maintained, great views
This course was impeccably maintained with views from the high location making my round relaxing and enjoyable. There was wind due to the high elevation over the valley below, but who cares when it's so nice. The course layout isn't super tough but if you ball ends up in the rough you'll lose yardage as there's no roll, just as it should be. Traps were soft and not hard panned. The only negative is there's two back to cal par 5's and 3's which was unusual, and the last few holes were around new housing. (I dislike driving on roads to get to holes. I drove from the Seattle area to play here while the ladies visited Levenworth and worth the drive.
A great course for the money!
We enjoyed the new holes on the back nine. Besides the incredibly slow groups in front of us, the day was very enjoyable. It's a very forgiving course if your driver is a little crazy, which I was thankful for! The staff was very accommodating and noticed the incredibly slow players in front of us and offered to comp us, which we were very thankful for!
Very Nice Golf Course
Highlander in East Washington, is a outstanding golf course for all golfers, Spectacular views of the Columbia River on many holes, the course overall is not lengthy in distance but is very challenging with many bunkers, canyons, cliffs, and a very enjoyable Golf Course to play, Greens and fairways are in great condition
Picturesque
Nice course, great view and a very unique 17th hole
great course
have played this many times with a group of eight guys{guys weekend extended to a full week}first time playing it since changes to back nine{last year we were in Spokane} loved the changes to the back nine, 16 is very scoreable,17 is a real ballbuster, but with a good shot it too is scoreable,18 is a great par 3, but you still have to hit a well placed shot. I can see 17 being a backup hole, but when we played a marshal was there directing traffic, and when a group had hit their shot and drove to17 green area,he allowed the next group to hit their shots. it seemed to work for us, but on a busy day, I see trouble big time from holes 16,17,18
Can be a great value.
Caught a great deal on golf now to play for half price. With that in mind, the course was pretty good. Fairly well taken care of. And since it was in between the rains, there weren't many people out there. I played in under 3 hours. I was pleased. Some quirky holes. You can tell it still has the roots of a links course. Personally, I would rather see it as a links course. Very much a target golf game here. Not a course I would pay full price for, $45 or more is too much.
Senic Course
Very enjoyable round of golf for two of us. Golf course was in pristine condition. Greens were on the slower side which made putting very nice.
Some picturesque holes, some challenging hole hitting over deep ravines.
Well worth the visit. Would advise anyone to play this course.
Shagy.
The course was poor. The rough was 5 inches long, on more then 5 holes there was days worth of grass clippings, the greens had dirt spots, it was horrible. The one bright spot was that they offered iced towel for a hot day. Besides that it really wasn't the nicest day of golf.
Great course
This was a beautiful course. Just loved the 17 hole.
back nine
The back nine is pretty funky. My gps didn't have it which made some shots pretty hard. I can see # 17 being a real backup on a busy day and I'm sure some older people may not be able to navigate that walking at all. The front nine was beautiful though.
love changes
the course has changed since last time i played it, loved the changes.
Great time
Found tee locations on back 9 somewhat confusing
need better signing 15-16-17.
Fun to play....although very windy....a real challenge
80 degrees and sunny
Wonderful day on a great track. Sad to see some holes gone or changed since I last played but still fun. A waste that the waterfall is no longer on the 9th hole now lost to the side. Shame they had to succumb to building homes on the back. Still worth the trip from Seattle.
Fun course
Front nine is great and the back nine, due to some recent re-figuring, needs more attention. All in all, a really fun course worth playing
Great course
Great course. Hot deal off of golf now so great value as well. Will play it again!
