Not worth it
Came up from Eau Claire to play with some friends. Course is in poor condition. Can't blame the spring weather because all of the other courses in the area are in great shape. Tee boxes were not mowed. Rough is 6 inches long, not mowed, dandelions everywhere. Lost 2 balls just yards off the fairway. Couple of the greens were half dead, all had numerous dead spots. Putting was impossible. Sand traps have been abandoned and are hardpan. Cups don't look like they have been moved in a week. Course has really gone down-hill since it became "Mickey's". There were 3 cars in the parking lot on a Saturday afternoon. No body plays here anymore.
Another 9-Hole Wisconsin Hidden Gem
Not sure about the last review, but all I can assume is they were blind golfers! This course has 9 of the most unique, and undulating greens I have found. The 9th hole is sublime as it runs along the river.
Course is a must play for the fan of quirky courses with old school charm
Bad course
Terrible course greeens terrrible everything is awful
Tee-Away Golf and Supper Club
The Tee-Away has some of the best greens anywhere. Having played a lot of golf in Scotland, Ireland and England, including the Old Course at St. Andrews five decades in a row, and all but one of the Open (British) courses, I can guarantee the greens were designed by a knowledgeable golf course designer from that area. My guess it is Harry Vardon’s brother, Tommy Vardon, the pro at White Bear Lake Golf (Yacht) Club in Minnesota for many years. He designed several courses in the area to include the Eau Claire G&CC, Spooner Golf Club and the University of Minnesota (Les Bolstad) Golf Course.
The Tee-Away is also a full service supper club with a dining room and deck overlooking the 9th hole and the beautiful Flambeau River. The staff is very friendly and professional. The food is very good and pocketbook friendly. A very enjoyable experience. Tell them Dave sent you... it won't do you much good except to start a friendly conversation.
makes sense as to why the cups look like they haven't been changed in a while since the greens are so bad
