Edson Golf and Country Club

This parkland style course is set amongst the rolling and wooded landscape on the east end of the town. The new clubhouse is home to both a well-stocked pro shop as well as the "Bench Bar & Grill", which is aptly named after Bench Creek which winds its way through the property.

With four sets of tees on every hole, golfers of all skill levels will be accommodated. Accuracy off the tee is warranted on certain holes but generous landing areas are provided on others. The greens are of a good size and not heavily contoured but two putting is not a guarantee. My four 3 putts are testimony to some of the sneaky little breaks you are bound to discover.

Golf here can be a test of patience and having some prior course knowledge can help you navigate your way around as the natural hazards, the trees, the bunkers and water can be found everywhere.

The local golfers (Jason, Ian, Harold) the pro shop had me join were good company, the staff were friendly and course conditioning was very good. Two thumbs up.

The course is in great shape and we sailed through in three hours. Nice practice facilities but no restaurant. Still worth a visit.

This is a mediocre course that has allowed itself to do into the 'goat track' category. Yes, it readings alot in Edson, but this course is so water logged, due to poor drainage, that it's impossible to hit a shot off of dry ground.

To make matters worse, their carts don't have enough juice to go a full round. We got stuck around the 13th hole, so we called the clubhouse to get a replacement sent out. That one lasted for only 3 more holes. Calls to the clubhouse went unanswered this time, probably due to there only being one person working in there. Frustrated, we grabbed our clubs and made the 20 minute hike back to our vehicle. I stopped by the clubhouse on the way through to voice my frustration, and the guy there just acted smug and cocky. I thought the least they could do is give us a pass for 9 holes for our inconvenience, but his attitude was 'too bad', not our fault.

I'm ok not using a car, and love walking most courses, but you can't even do that here, unless you have rubber boots with spikes. I'm sure Footjoy hasn't thought of that yet.

The course was fine, service was fine, pace was fine... everything was fine. That’s (in my view) the way of most things now..
