A sneaky good course
I hadn't played Shannon Lake until the past month, and have now played it three times. I was told it had small greens, but most have been redone and many are very large. There is a good variety of holes, and maybe a few too many short par 4's, but otherwise very good. The par 5's are challenging, and a good variety of length on the par 3's. The terrain is used effectively with some difficult uphill shots, subtle doglegs (and a couple of not so subtle!) and minimal but effective trapping and hazards (not too penal). Conditioning was very good every time I played.
$100 with cart is a little excessive, but not too much.
An enjoyable days golf
Course is in excellent condition albeit the greens were a bit slower than expected. Club house service is curtailed due to Covid19 restrictions
Despite airation and sanding two days prior the greens were in good shape. John and his staff were awesome.
The course is set in gorgeous scenery up in the hills
We enjoyed this course very much. Helpful staff and the carts all have GPS. Great value for money and quite a challenging course.
Altered course layout. Fun but i get lost.
So the first hole is the same. Not an issue.
Then things get wierd. 6 is the old 9, 13 is now the turn. Under the road 4x, or 6x? down to the lake for 8th, no wait thats the 17th now. cant remember, haha. Needless to say i got lost and played 76 holes. oooops.
The GPS carts are a blessing and a curse. crawling along at 1.1mph drives my insane! yes i know to NOT drive the carts on the greens. cool.
But if you ever got to know some yardages, those carts are awesome.
Love the location of the course, tight tree lined holes, then a little breathing room with some open sections. Lots of big drives off the tees. But also some tricky dog legs.
Always half decent condition, Always a great round of golf. Carts are sort of needed. lots of hills and long walks between holes.
Note; Dont park near the 18th fairway. I've seen some damage occur.
Pace of play was terrible. No Marshall on course. No driving range. Course not player friendly at all. Hit driver twice all round. No drink car. Spend your money somewhere else. Green had lots of dead patches and player in front of us had never wore spikes before and we'e destroying the greens.
Shannon lake fast and furious.
The golf staff: starter,pro-shop and marshalls are top notch and are very accommodating ,they get you on your way very quickly.
Scenery distracting ,if out of town bring your camera.
New and Improved
New layout is great. Course and new clubhouse are fantastic. I rode but I think walking would be an effort. Staff were really friendly.
