Fort Clark Springs Golf Club
About
Fort Clark Springs is a residential and resort community that offers a short 18-hole regulation course and a 9-hole par 3 course, both of which are open for public play. Las Moras Creek meanders through the picturesque community of about 750 households, and the population swells a bit during the winter as retirees move in and take advantage of the warm weather.
One of the great features of this course is that it offers the chance to play from the tips and score very well, as the back tees are just over 5,700 yards. Most of the par 4s are barely over 300 yards, making length off the tee a non-issue. Only the par 4 No. 16 at 357 yards resembles anything close to what you might see back home. Hole 12 has some length at 566 yards, and is the number one handicap hole.
Plan accordingly if you're in the area, as the course is very popular with the locals and can get very crowded. Call ahead. Tee times are required on the weekends. One option is to get there early and walk on the par 3 course as a warm-up for your round on the big course.
Getting there : The course is on Hwy. 90 on the north side of the road.

Confused
Booked tee for 1100am, arrived and the place looks deserted. I’d say abandoned but the all doors were secured/locked and lights were off. Parking lot was empty. No one in sight except for the guy picking up rakes up dry grass and leafs, whom was not helpful with any explanations what so ever. Just drove off. I’m not sure if this course is still in business.
I tried to call the pro shop an hr in advance due to me traveling from Del Rio(40min away) where I’m staying for work.
Tee boxes- confusing. Again, the whole place looked like it was no longer in business.
Greens- In need of some…well work, water…a grounds crew? The holes were filled with green water.
Fairways- couldn’t tell where the rough or dirt, rather, began and where the “fairway” began. This was the same for the fairway leading up to the “greens”.
The guard up at the front of the gated community did not know much about the operation of the course as well.
This was my first go with booking a tee time with Golf Now. I’ll make sure to call the course directly before booking anything else in the future.
Fort Golf Course
This 18 hole was very nice. The area or the Fort is relaxing. I will be going back and bringing friends.
Fort Clark Springs Gold Course
Fort Clark 18 holes is a unique place to play golf. The surrounding area is breath taking. I encourage people to go check it out.
Barren cow pasture at best
Don’t bother. Very little grass anywhere, lumps of weeds on nasty greens. Should close it down. Those who rated it highly should stop reviewing so ad not to lead others astray. Even by rural Texas standards, this place is brutal.
Great fun, excellent greens
Brackettville is a hike and worth the road trip. The course’s greens are fantastic for a small, tight muni. There are a few holes where the driver is the right choice and many where shape and location best reward. Set near the old fort, this location has potential. Will visit again in the winter months to walk a fun track.
