Good short course
Course was in excellent shape except for some water in several bunkers. Par 3s are long but course is wide open so bogies are easy to get.
First timer all around
First time playing here. Was a bit late to the tee time but Wayne at Starting tee was very accommodating and let us return to play our first 2 missed holes. Staff is friendly, course is beautiful and well kept. Will definitely return here as to the others rolling hills has !
The first terrible day here
We were paired with a gentleman ( who plays here regularly ) who had brought his son who had never played before
The son was extremely slow - his dad did nothing to speed things along and seemed to offer coaching ( in a foreign language ) on every shot
Besides slow, we suffered innumerable examples of poor etiquette that ruined our enjoyment of the round
The marshal arrived on the 13th hole, ( with many open holes in front of us and several foursomes jammed behind us )
Nothing changed so we walked off on 14
The least pleasant round I have ever experienced
Course Marshall was great, Alex in the Pro Shop could be nicer
We had a lot of fun however here’s what happened: for the first time ever while golfing at Rolling Hills. The Starter told my party at tee off that we each owed $6.00 for the pushcart. No one has ever told us in the past there was a fee. At the end of our round we went in to pay and Alex told us the fee was now $7.50 per cart. When we asked about the discrepancy Alex was not willing to discuss, it was his way only.
A Short Game Gem
If you are interested in evaluating your short game and putting this is worth a try. The pin placements made putting challenging. The greens were large but the contours were very deceptive. All in all a value full experience.
The Marshall sucks
The Marshall sucksss! Today was my friend in the Canadian Armed Forces first day back in Toronto and we decided to go golfing. Upon arrival we were automatically looked down against for some reason. Our bags were requested to be searched two times. And the marshal would constantly watch us and interrupt our play. Also no duhh people want to bring their own beer you’re charging nine dollars for a white claw and $14 for a Stella. Also seen the same behavior by the Marshall towards another group of younger guys. Also he made us skip two holes because we were slower but my friends were learning. Why the heck would you schedule teetimes five minutes apart.
Good course
I always feel that this course is good value. I was a bit disappointed, though. The starter had assured us that there would be beverages available at the 9th, but none were to be found. I fail to unstand why beverages are not available on the course through any means.
