Canyon River Golf Club

Canyon River is what you might except for golf in MT, a beautiful setting with some modestly challenging golf. The course is set up for a cart, it's not good for walking with long distances between some holes. The grounds crew keeps it in good shape, I've never seen it otherwise. The layout is great with a hilly landscape providing several elevated tees and doglegs. It can get very windy because it sits in Hellgate Canyon. This is a great golf experience, only 10 minutes from my home town of Missoula.

Overpriced for what it is. Layout isn’t really interesting and location is in a small valley next to the interstate. Paid $55 even with aerated greens. Should be more around $30-40 but I guess they got to make up for their short season. Wouldn’t stop here next time for golf.

Course was in very good condition considering it's early spring golf in Montana. Extended distance between several holes makesit a difficult walking course - but still worth it.

Played on a very hot 35C . Cold water every 3 holes or so. Course has a very nice layout with very good conditions. Some really beautiful holes. No one was in front of me and finished in under 2.5 hrs walking. I would recommend carts to anyone that doesn't like walking a lot - long distances between holes,

Stephen at the pro shop was top notch. Extremely friendly, courteous and attentive to every detail. He really loves his job and dealing with people. Made my day. Hope your knee is better soon.

Great course. Player friendly. Staff is friendly. A tad pricey, but well worth the money. Beautiful course!!!

This course was a lot of fun to play. It was challenging but fair. Definitely a must play when in the area!

Course was well maintained and the canyon location made for a peaceful and scenic round.

Best public course in Western Montana. Ultra scenic, extremely well maintained, memorable and challenging holes. Great practice facilities. Always love coming here.

We really enjoyed the course until the 12th hole when mother nature decided we had had enough fun and dropped a thunderstorm on us.

Course is in great shape...I played at canyon in February and the green were rolling slow just being sanded but they are rolling great now...best public course is the Zoo

Was first time playing the course, but not for my playing partners. They were disappointed at having to play sanded greens (was not mentioned at time of tee booking). Anyway, course was fun to play and the practice facilities and clubhouse were nice. Would recommend a cart as there is some distance between some of the holes, but did see plenty of people walking.

Great day of golf in a beautiful setting. It is a long and winding course and should not be walked unless you are really looking for a workout.

I found it to be very challenging and enjoyable. It plays in and out of a golf community with great views of Mt. Sentinel. The 4 sided tee box signs posting the yardage was a nice touch so you could see the yardage at any angle. GPS was a plus in the carts.
The greens are tough and undulating but in beautiful shape. Fairways and rough were also looking good. Some tee boxes were chewed up but still fine. Some holes had a decent amount of distance between green and tee box making carts a must.
Definitely play Canyon River if you're Missoula, I feel its a better bargain than The Ranch Club.

I make it here for a few rounds every year and think it is one of the great tracks in the northwest....Love Montana!

Really liked this course. The greens were fast and smooth. The fairways were great. Some of the par 4s were long. It is a challenging course. If you are in the area you need to play this course.The mountains around the course make for some great views.I would recommend riding there are some long stretches between holes.
