Disrespectful and ungrateful staff
Today was my first and last experience at St. Rose. For context: we were a group of four teenagers. I know that most of the time golf clubs are hesitant when it comes to young people, but this time was worse than anything I’ve experienced before.
From the moment we arrived, the receptionist was disrespectful, telling one of our group members that it was obvious he was a beginner. She then came outside to watch us tee off, with a condescending attitude like I’ve never felt before.
Once on the course, even though there was never anyone behind us waiting at the tee boxes, the marshall came to speak to us four times over the first 12 holes, and then followed us throughout the 12th. He even yelled at one of our members during his swing to speed up. We were never being pressured by the group behind us — it was just some grumpy old folks.
In the end, we actually played at a very fast pace, finishing more than a hole ahead of the group behind. Despite that, they still came to talk to us again at the end, in a situation that made me feel very uncomfortable, surrounded by older people who thought they were better than us.
In short, this was my last time at St. Rose.
