Good bones, bad condition
I used to live in the Bloomington area and was looking forward to finally getting to play this course. There are 3 nines and we played East-West. After making our tee time for this morning's round, I discovered that the course does not belong to the Indiana Golf Association, which means it doesn't have an official USGA rating and scores can't be posted to the GHIN system. That left me a bit puzzled, but considering the rate and availability of a morning tee time, we decided to treat today as a practice round.
Our first observation of course conditions came at the practice green - it was the slowest putting surface I've ever seen. This was surprising because it looked to be in really good condition. Unfortunately, all the greens were the same, looked good, but you had to really hammer the ball to get it anywhere. I didn't have a STIMP tester with me, but I'd guess it to be a 4 or 5. The greens would have been tolerable if the fairways didn't have grass deep enough to be the rough at most other courses. They were cutting fairways today, but even had been cut was pretty shaggy. The rough was a real easter egg hunt, 3-5 inches deep.
There were some interesting hole layouts and this could be a good golf course, but for now, it certainly isn't. Even considering it was viewed as just a practice round, don't feel like we got our money's worth. I don't ever need to come back and I won't recommend this course to anyone else.

It seems the courses a little understaffed. The man running the pro shop Did the best he could under the conditions that was forced upon? You can’t have a Person run the snack bar and the pro shop at the same time on a weekend no doubt. So he was overwhelmed in some aspects and I actually felt sorry for him.
The course needs a little bit of work, but overall and great condition the greens were extremely slow and a little bumpy Other than that great day great course always enjoyed playing Stonecrest
Nice Layout
Played West/East several weeks ago...West was somewhat flat, East has more contours to it and a more interesting course, to me. Not real close to where I live, but would go back otherwise...friendly staff, condition pretty good for what was still the offseason.

I love stonecrest as it is not intimidating for the average to below average golfer it is still fun
