Cow Pasture pool
The description on GolfNow is very out dated.. there is literally no grass on the fairways, greens were nice but had dead patches throughout.
Tee boxes are just random little mounds if that of dirt.
Locals / members were playing 6 som in front of me and didn’t offer to let a single player play through.
Very disappointed over all.
This course has good and open fairways.
The fairways and course is really open. Some of the greens are pretty rough but the pace of play is really fast and the staff are friendly.
Won’t go back
We live in CSTAT and often drive to smaller towns to golf. We love the slower pace and country views. The fairways were the same length as the rough and the greens were thick as carpet. I don’t have high standards but was very disappointed. There’s a lot of potential and a basic mow would’ve gone a long way.
Great value for the money
Friendly staff. Great value for the money. Will definitely go back and play again.
Good value
Friendly owners. Greens looking good. Good course layout.
Worth the $
cart paths and just course structure is as absent as it gets and no friendly grass for golf play but still worth the price. also alot of single engine planes flying over your head so that was pretty cool too
Would not recommend to a friend
Course was fun to play but the greens were in terrible shape.
Also, the staff is not very friendly and charged a “riding fee” of $15 just for my wife to ride along and not play.
Won’t be going back.
Fun little course
Not much to choose from as far as lunch goes, but cool 9 hole course and fun layout. Off the beaten path so pace of play was as fast or slow as you wanted to go.I will definitely be back
A practice cow pasture
If you want a course to practice on, this is a good place because hardly anyone plays here. The greens are extremely slow. The Fairways are just patchy grass and most of the rough is dirt or weeds. But I played by myself with no one around. I placed my ball on a patch of grass if on the fairway and something similar to a maintained course when in the rough. It was a decent challenge and good practice for ball striking. Only $25 with a cart and I probably could have kept playing. Very low key and very little maintenance.
Extreme Budget Course
Took my 3 boys for their first-ever golf game on my 50th birthday. Being in Madisonville, TX, I did not expect anything exceptional, but I did expect the bare minimum that the fairways would be distinguishable from the rough and would have grass on them; poor assumption on my part. I play a lot of small-town 9-hole courses, so my expectations were in-line with my experience in Taylor, TX, Lago Vista, TX, Navisota, etc. - I figured we would avoid holding up other folks with my boy's first play, by coming to a smaller rural course, which we almost achieved if not for a couple of grumpy old codgers. We struggled to find our balls on the fairway due to all the debris, leaves, limbs, deep grass in places (rough), patchy dirt spots, roots - it was a mess. The greens were well manicured, but extremely wet, which made them slow, but they were nicely kept. The website pictures are misleading - had I known this was pasture golf, we would have driven into Bryan/ College Station and paid the extra money for an actual course. If you're looking to carom around in the pasture with some putting greens with a cart for a semi-reasonable price, this is the place for you. If not, you might look elsewhere and pay a bit more - it's all about expectations.
Needs some TLC
Layout is OK. Some holes really need home course knowledge off the tee. Especially the way your ball rolls on the dried out fairways. Best thing about it is the pace of play. If you're looking for somewhere to play quickly or take new players out I'd recommend it. Otherwise save your time and money. Greens were mostly green but you have to hammer the ball and they weren't smooth at all.
If you have to play it
Pretty dry and dead. Greens are green but not even at all. Poorly mowed and need to be sanded and smoothed. Fairway and tees are mostly dead. Lost a ball is a leaking sprinkler wash out.
Played in just over 2hrs so that was nice. I'd take kids or someone new there but not a great track otherwise.
Disappointed
Was hoping that with all of the rain the course would have been better. The greens were ok, the cut was uneven and they were slow. One green looked as if it had not been mowed at all. Tee boxes were mostly bare and hard as a rock. Probably won’t be back.
