About

Holes 18
Type Public
Par 72
Length 7171 yards
Slope 140
Rating 75.0

Overlooking the Concho River, Quicksand is named appropriately with its combination of desert and links-style architecture, and its prominent use of sand. Five tees, ranging from 5,023 yards to 7,171 yards, give the West Texas hacker lots of options on this unusually difficult course.

Nos. 5 and 7 are the holes of note on the front side-the 5th known for its elevated island green (surrounded by sand, not water), and the 7th famous as the toughest hole on the course. The signature No. 7 goes 621 yards and has the always-pleasing double dogleg feature, and is only lined by 22 bunkers. Yes…22 bunkers!

The back features three difficult finishing holes. No. 16 features an approach over water to a tiny green, No. 17 requires a 200-yard carry over water. The ender is a long par 4 that features a tee shot into a fairway lined by water on the left, and a difficult approach into another island-like green, this time surrounded by water.

Other notes: Walking is not allowed on the weekends. The facility is considering adding another nine holes.

Getting there : Heading east on Hwy. 67/277, take the 306 Loop Exit onto Smith Blvd. and the course is directly ahead.

Great course, terrible customer skills

Desk guy rude, not friendly. Played 9 late in day, had about 1 1/2 hours left of daylight so asked if we could play until they wanted carts in. NO!!! You paid for 9 holes! was the answer. Asked if I could pay for the rest, answer an emphatic NO!! If we were only people there, I might have understood, but at least 25 cars left in parking lot, so there were a lot of people left on the course. Nice course, buy I don't need or deserve the attitude, won't go back,

fun fun fun

Wide fairways but placement helps.

Lots of sand traps make your hit your target area.

Great greens.

For West Texas it is excellent, for Texas in general,

its well above average.

Very nice layout, Cranky Starter

This is a really nice trac....... I good shape for early in the Spring! Nice layout but challenging from the back tees. Greens were nice enough.
I would recommend this golf course.... watch out for the cranky staff.

QS will slay your patience!

Definitely a target hitting course with unforgiving rough and undulations. Hole approach is very important and will determine a one or two putt outcome. Sand traps will cause the sailor in you to come out with multiple explicative"s. It is an absolute blast to play!
