Golf Advisor: Top Courses in Arkansas (2019 #3)
Reviews
Play here!
I had been eyeing this course for a few years hoping to make it over during one of my frequent trips to Memphis and was not disappointed at all. We played North/West and it was GREAT! Great staff, great course design and condition. Narrow fairways, elevation changes, and sloping greens provide plenty of challenge. Definitely worth a drive over from Memphis.
Great layout
We played all three 9 holes and def enjoyed the north/west best. East is still a good track. Everything was perfect except greens were really slow. Do not know if this is normal or not. Will def be back though. Worth the drive from Memphis.
Hidden Gem
This course is one of the best courses our group has played on our tour of the 50 states. Unbelievably no one is playing this course. Great layout- conditions were great even after receiving 6" of rain two days before we played. Greens and fairways were in great shape. Best money can buy. Don't miss this gem
3 Course North, East, West
Sept. 30 2017, 4 days of Golf Here, courses are amazing, very hilly and challenging, greens were very good, West seemed a little faster than the other two, if you hit off line shots, being a lot of golf balls, you won't find them. Move up to Senior tees and hit target areas to enjoy the course, using every club in the bag, tips are very challenging, for very highly skilled golfers. We played mostly White Tees, one up from tips, able to work a birdie or two in on occasion. Staff is friendly, hamburgers and hot dogs are standard fare at the turn. Courses are marked to directions, however only the North and West are nearest clubhouse. Bunkers were not raked, we raked and placed the ball in same spot. We are considering a return trip soon. No or little cell phone service.
When in Wynne
The courses at Village Creek State Park near Wynne Arkansas are some of the best conditioned and challenging I have played in that area of the country.
Lower priced and the staff is excellent. Cabins are part of the deal and very adequate.
One very good course
This course is almost out in the middle of nowhere, I guess that is why there was hardly anyone on the course when I played it. Being on crowleys ridge, there is lots of hills, elevation drops, and mounds that is uncommon for Arkansas. There is also pretty white sand bunkers strategically placed on every hole that make things more challenging. Greens are good, along with bunkers, teeboxes, fairways and practically everything. A great deal for the small amount of money they make you pay. West was my favorite but all 27 were terrific.
