Par for the course
Otis Park is a place my dad and I try to play every year. We have come to expect nice conditions along with what the course offers, tight-ish fairways, small greens, a normal layout with a couple of quirky holes for fun.
This time did not differ. They are working on the sod on a couple of fairways but not enough to detract from an enjoyable round.
Good value but the person cutting holes needs to be retrained.
I play here a few times a year. Good value compared to other nearby public options. Front nine routing is pretty boring with the holes just going back and forth alongside each other. Back is more fun and has a good variety of holes. Pace of play was pretty awful for a weekday morning round. Whoever cut the holes clearly doesn’t play golf. Multiple pins in illegal locations and they didn’t flatten the outside of the holes so it was like putting into a little volcano at a putt putt.
Always a treat to play Otis Park
Over the years I have played Otis Park a dozen or so times. I come back for the tee shot on 17 but the rest of the course is fun too. The fairways were in great shape, the greens rolled well with just a little pace. I wasn't in many bunkers so judging them wouldn't be fair. The course puts you in awkward lies all day, and the greens are small in comparison to others plus they have lots of subtle breaks.
Aerated Greens, otherwise good!
They aerated the front 9 on Friday so they were not healed yet. needs more sand to get a bit smoother if you're going to play it. Most were playing the back 9 twice to avoid the greens. Otherwise, this course can be difficult with slopes and very fast greens. I play it 1-2 times a year. They are also upgrading the driving range which was much needed!
Course
l love the course, but some players are very slow, and won’t let faster players play through
