Gruis Recreation Area, The Barn

I played 36 holes over two days. Green fees were $25 for unlimited play. The greenskeeping crew deserves kudos for an excellent job: the greens themselves were immaculately maintained albeit a bit on the slow side. The fairways and rough were neatly cut with ribboned fairways. To address heavy rainstorms that had hit the area, the crew carefully marked off wet, muddy areas to avoid any further harm to accelerate the return of pristine conditions. The course, which is heavily wooded, is enjoyable for all levels of play. I'd put this 9-hole course up against almost any of the publics courses I have played in Iowa and Minnesota. This course is a hidden gem worth a visit.
